Toronto is not trading an RD for an LD. Minnesota might actually bite at that, and maybe even should. Philly might also bite... but only if they can lose Ghost somehow. Otherwise, it doesn't work.

This is MN you're sending him too; that's not something what they need. Holden falls between 6th and 8th on their d-man depth chart, same as Hunt, but Hunt is $1m cheaper and has some offense.

Suter, Brodin, Soucy for LD already on the team. Dumba, Spurgeon, Pateryn for RD. Hunt and Belpedio that can play either side on the bottom pair. Upgrading the 6-8D isn't worth $1m in cap space this year and another year on his contract. I don't care if Hunt is traded for futures or lost on waiver claim. He's a fringe NHLer making fringe NHLer money. Adding cap/term on a position that is already deep in both the NHL and prospects is a mistake.

I'm not bashing Holden, MN just isn't the team to trade him to. It's the same as every Tor trade that send Holl here.
