Some people think the flames are going to be like 2nd or 3rd, and others who believe they could be 2nd or 3rd last in an all Canadian division.

They might be a contender, let's face it, if this season does get going it's going to be pretty wide open, an injury or two could really sink some teams, a hot goalie could carry another, who knows how it's gonna go, Calgary looks good enough to pull it off if they can get it together, something has looked off with them the last few years.

I don't think the Flames are a contender this year, I think they can be a playoff team but if so, it'll be a first round exit.
The forwards are better and getting better. I think the defense took a step back this off-season but will get better in future years.

I need to see Markstrom play before I judge goaltending. I can't tell if it's going to be Lehner on Chicago or Bob on Florida. I can't help but have a bad feeling because it's a pricier signing and that added pressure doesn't bode well. BUT! I think years after that could be good once that pressure is off from time passing and the defense improves.
