They won`t trade Matheson. I think it`s more likely they trade Petterson.

I think it goes one of two ways.

      1. Trade MP and Sceviour and sign Granlund and FA D.
      2. Trade Sceviour and sign Haula.

Anything that involves trading Matheson is just not worth making

They just traded HQ for him, he’s here and staying

It's a great team but i think offloading Matheson for 0$ is a fantasy.

I just saw an article today saying we could sign Craig Anderson to be back-up and to a cheap 750k-1M one-year deal.

We traded Murray at the worst time possible. Not only a flat cap year. But we had no leverage. Everyone knew we couldn’t hold onto Murray at 6.5M a year and sign Jarry with the flat cap and if we did, one would be selected in the expansion draft anyways. Plus all the goalies this year on the free agent market. It was the worst time possible
We could hav traded him. And after a average year too!!

I also said from the beginning that we were gonna to get a 2nd round pick and prospect. But I thought we were gonna get a “B”, B+” prospect and not a “C”, “C-“ prospect like Gruden. Gruden is like Joey Anderson. But not as far along, and younger. He’s a bottom 6 forward, energy guy, tough, fights for pucks in the corners and has alittle bit of a scoring touch. I think if we would’ve gotten S.Pinto or J.Davidsson, that would have been good value for a 26 years old All-Star goalie that has won 2 SC’s, making 6.5M a year and coming off an average year. Or I would have wanted D.Batheson or A.Formenton(who are probably A- prospects) and the 2nd round pick. But I knew we weren’t gonna get a 1st round pick b/c of the situation and we had no leverage. Like I said, a 2nd round pick and a “B”, “B+” prospect would have been good value.

Yes I agree. I definitely Murray had enough value to fetch an A- prospect and 2nd Round pick given his resume. Heck even if they got Pinto, I would’ve been very happy. The organization is quite thin on good center prospects.

Pinto and the 2nd which was Blomqvist would have been perfect. Joel Blomqvist was the 3rd ranked goalie on some draft boards/rankings.

I do NOT think Mathy will get moved & I am excited to see Mathy play here BUT I am biased bc I've always liked his game tho.

But I do agree that this team MUST sign Haula or Granlund & then trade for a Top 9 wing or 3C after signing Haula or Granlund.

I also think that Riikola is the one that gets moved.

      - Also is this Penguins team, could this be the softest NHL hockey team in the History of NHL hockey teams?? My God is this team going to get picked on & bullied, lol.

Plus, I dont understand why more ppl are NOT concerned w/ The AHL back-up Goalie we have in a season that having a 1B Goalie could be the difference in being a playoff team & Not being a playoff team BC of the compacted season & the number of back-to-back games there could be??? In a [72] game season the back-up could get around 30-35 starts.

Thanks for the feedback. I think Matheson is a decent 2nd pairing defender but I had to trade his cap hit in order to bring in a 3C & 3RW. It’s still a soft team but at least they would have the speed & skill in the bottom 6 unlike currently. I think DeSmith has done well on most occasions he’s been called up for but it could definitely be better.
