By this strategic plan, you've upgraded from Justin Holl to Connor Murphy, but you've exchanged one year of Freddie Andersen for one year of Antti Raanta. I'm not sure you've improved the team.

I don't think that in this environment anyone is going to give you a second for Alex Kerfoot, let alone a second and another pick. That's too bad, because I think he's worth it.

I would suggest Kerfoot is a very similar player to AJ, both are about the same size, same cap hit, both 3rd line forwards, produce about the same amount. Only differences is Kerfoot is a center (with a sub 50% face off %) and not coming off a serious leg injury. With the current NHL landscape, I don't think a team would give up very much for him, they could get a similar or better player than him on the market this year, most likely at a cheaper cap hit. We saw the return that AJ got, should only expect a slightly better return if Kerfoot gets traded this off season.

The problem with Kerfoot is that Leafs fans keep trying to trade him to SoCal teams, neither of whom really need a #3C or especially a #3LW. I wish somebody would try one of those multi-team posts sending Kerfoot to places like San Jose, Calgary, Edmonton, Nashville and even Chicago to see what the fit and return would look like.

CHI & OTT wouldn't bite, but AZ would.
