Ah, yes, the old spare-parts-and-a-first-for-a-former-first-round-pick-and-a-top-four-RD trade . . .

If you think Weegar is the proper partner for Muzzin, then a bottom-6 winger, bottom-pairing defenseman and a first that won't do the Panthers any good until 2022-2023 at the earliest a fair package for him.

And by the way: Isn't the justification for thinking that Weegar is on the block Florida's purported financial situation? If that's true, wouldn't they be holding on to their bottom-of-the-salary-table contracts?

While I won't comment on the former first pick part. I must say I am so sick of seeing Weegar trades like hes going to be some sort of savior. The Leafs don't need more defenceman. They are fine, they may need to move a salary out to make the cap work but it may only be Engvall and I'd wager moving him won't be hard at all. Kerfoot at 3C is fine, Robertson I think will be a good 3LW and Barbarov a good 3RW or Simmonds possibly. The 4th line of Spezza with whichever RW that doesn't make the 3rd line and whatever other bubble player that makes the team will be a good 4th line.

The Defence by midseason I think will he Muzzin with Brodie, Rielly with Lehtonen and Dermott and Holl on the 3rd pair with Bogosian filling in the odd night when someone is banged up. Its going to be great to see Marincin not play much for once.

First off, Weegar is on the market because they signed Gudas, not because of their financial situation.
Also Weegar was rumored to be offered for Dermott and Johnsson and Toronto said no, Dermott and Holl and Engvall and Johnsson have similar value, and once you add in a first its a fair trade.
I dont think the Leafs make the trade but who knows

As little as Johnson got in trade, (an AHLer), Engvall is overpaid for what is again an AHLer. Weegar in Leaf fans opinions isn't worth much, but almost every proposal immediately slots him in on 2nd pairing, which proves his value. Leaf fans look at engvall, holl, and others and overvalue what they are which is borderline NHLers/4th line fillers that carry little worth, every team has a Jordan Weal, A Dannick Martel, a German Rutosov, etc... (a 4th line capable guy, whos a dime a dozen)

Two depth guys from TOR and what they hope is a low 1st rounder for two solid mid to high prospects, a high 3rd and a 2nd pairing defenseman? Its hardly even and hardly what FLA would want. Why doesn't TOR offer a 2nd, Sandin and Dermott to PHI for Gotisbehere, because its not remotely even and isn't what TOR want.
