Anybody care to explain their positions?
Last 2 years, keeping in mind Hyman is a 2 way forward, not really known for his offence.
Hyman 122gp 42g 36a 78pts +29 88PIM 3PP 18:02TOI 154hits 62blks 62 tkwys 44gvwys
Chucky 131gp 27g 38a 65pts -24 50PIM 11PP 14:11TOI 114hits 51blks 33tkwys 60gvwys
So judginng by this - Hyman is a way better 5v5 scorer, less of a playmaker, way more physical (will stand up for teammates), relied upon more, way better defensively.
Other things we know - he's one of the Leafs key PK players, easily the Leafs best forechecker, and likely the first fwd over the boards to protect a 1 goal lead. These elements are all pretty crucial to this Leafs team considering the current makeup.
They don't need another offence first top 6 fwd that does his best work on the PP, and is an adventure in his own end. And they really would have no need to pay that player major $$ coming off a couple of down seasons.
Also, in response to an earlier point of yours. It's ridiculous to weaken the current roster and move useful players like Engvall and Holl just to avoid losing someone in the expansion draft. Leafs will lose a decent player to Seattle, who cares. Getting a 4th (like 20% chance of this player playing 200 NHL games) for Holl instead of losing him for nothing is no reason to make the team weaker.
