If Benning had a brain; this is exactly what he should’ve done

Yeah defense is questionable but our top 6 is legit with Toffoli

I’m gonna explode. These last few days are inexcusable!

Benning is a scout, nothing more. He can’t handle the cap or negotiate!

Bye bye 👋

That is SO much a better team than what you have now, and it shouldn't have been that hard.

You even have room to pay Toffoli $750 more and Stecher $300 more.

Inexcusable then for drafting Juolevi with Tkachuk after him. Credit to Hughes and Pettersson tho

I have a feeling that Benning thought replacing Tanev was more important than replacing Toffoli, since they’re weaker at D. I have no idea why they didn’t bring back Stetcher.

For their sake, hopefully the Canucks can get someone like Vatanen on a good contract to improve their D.

Montreal got a steal for Toffoli, a 50 point guy good in his own zone. Should be worth 5-6M even in flat cap world. If Toffoli was willing to take 4.25M there is no way you should even consider replacing him and sign him without second thought

Stecher left because he didn’t feel wanted as Benning was prioritizing signing other people

I still can't believe that the main (perhaps only) question surrounding Vancouver's off-season was "How many of their 4 big free agents are the Canucks going to sign?" and the answer was "Zero."

Which the athletic reported in detail.
I was absolutely fine with letting Tanev and Markstrom go as the term was crazy!
I even gave him the benefit of the doubt on OEL whom he should have squeezed for nothing but it’s a 2 way street in negotiations.

However, Stecher was the tipping point. It has nothing to do with Stecher as a player but everything to do with Benning’s lack of foresight and direction
