I love it. Is it a risk sure maybe but I’m glad they got him for a guy that clearly wants to hit FA to get rich

You are optimistic. Indeed if he scores 25g-45points while being physical and fast, no problem . But it’s a big if...

CBJ got a good deal. 5.3m is cheap with 20% escrow fees even if it walks him to free agency
I trust Jarmo’s decisions much more than Bergie at this point.

I hope you are right but this is a shocking signing

I’ll put 5.5 mil that he gets more than 25 goals and 45 points on a line with Suzuki. Lol

Ya Clb got a good player at a decent aav and a pick. Good deal for them too. They needed a centre and Anderson clearly wanted out

This is depressing dude. To me this could be Lucic like.
Bergevin is lucky Lucic didn’t want to sign there

People are weird man. The guy is a 20 goal scorer gets hurt for a season and signs for less than he would had he scored 20-25 more this year and they’re all complaining. Weirdos man.

Have you seen the kid play? He’s what the Habs need. He got hurt and that’s why we got him for Domi and for cheap. I’m thankful. Watch him explode. Who were his line mates during career years imagine with suzuki

I agrees on the assignment. I've got some bias since Anderson is my favorite player, but it's amazing how quick people turned on him. He nearly scored 30 goals a season ago while playing the majority of his minutes with Foligno, Jenner, and Calvert. Now all anyone wants to say is "fOuR pOiNtS". I could definitely see it fizziling out in the final year or 2, but it's gonna be an absolute steal of a contract for the first few. I wouldn't be shocked to see 100 goals in the first 3 years out of him. I'm kinda upset we didn't sign this, but I understand we've got bigger fish to fry with Jones, Werenski, Bjorkstrand, and basically the entire core due up soon. Didn't really have the space to pay Anderson this much and keep most of the young core. I hope he kills it in Montreal for 79 games a year 😉

It wasn't as much Anderson wanting out as it was the fit. He wanted a long term deal, but the team wanted to be more flexible since basically the entire young core will get big raises in the next couple years. They were definitely looking for the kind of deal the signed Domi to, but Anderson wanted term. It just wasn't a good fit with Columbus's upcoming cap situation unfortunately. I would've loved to keep him.

It’s more the fact Bergevin traded away a 72 point scorer that is younger and a draft pick so many people thought that Anderson would sign cheap and the cap space would technically be the Other asset In the deal.
Fans are just disappointed because they had their hopes up that he signed cheap.

I hope bigshame is correct. Josh Anderson is a physical specimen. The injury concerns and longevity worry me as it did CBJ otherwise they would have signed him long term

You could be right about him not wanting out. They were having trouble signing him to his last contract tho no? It’s funny tho you lose a piece like that to fill a hole at centre and than end up need a player just like him the next couple year. Eg mtl-pacioretty
They got the pieces they wanted and needed but now needed a scoring winger with size and speed lol.

I hear you. There’s risk with injury but I’ll take that risk. And Domi was good but I think he was the right piece to move instead of Suzuki kk Danault. Domi wasn’t as good on the wing so wing for wing I’ll give up Domi and a pick for the better winger that’s only 1 year older. Also Domi has Health risks too

CBJ and Anderson’s relationship soured because they thought he was ready to return when he wasn’t. It was pretty clear Anderson would be dealt. Sure the price MTL paid was a little steep. Probly 1 for 1 was fair but claiming Domi is a 72 point fwd because of 1 season but also claiming a player is bad/not worth a contract because of 1 season seems a bit hypocritical doesn’t it? 25 goal scorers normally would be paid more that 5.5M. If he’s healthy, which they wouldn’t have traded Domi for him if he wasn’t, this contract is fine. It’s more term less cap and it’s loaded in the middle so they can buy him out later if need be for cheap.

Yeah it’s just difficult to process in the moment when I had my own little charts and possibilities for free agency. Now, they are all thrown out the window lol

The word a few weeks ago was that he wanted to stay in Columbus on a long term deal, but the team wanted shorter term. He also was very complimentary of both the team culture and Tortorella yesterday. Could have just been going through the motions, but it seems like he would've been more than happy to stay if they offered him the term he wanted.

Also, the hiccup a few years ago was about him wanting more than the team was offering. Seems like it was just one of those where the 2 parties have different ideas of what the player is worth and it takes a bit longer to figure out. I could be wrong though.
