Weird decision to go after dubnyk but the belief is he just wants a stop gap for one year and scouting on him believes they can help him more then they can help jones.

I agree stupid choice for dubnyk but I think they just want to wait for their goalie prospect melnichuk to get time to develop and it’s not a bad trade since it’s 50% for a 5th

I mean I'm just as mad about this from a performance standpoint as I was from the very start, but this value is fine. I just don't know why we downgraded massively for no reason though. I think Dell would have still been cheaper to just bring back than Dubnyk 50% retained. Anyway, the deal is fine, I can't be mad at the value.

It's all a bet on that having them split games will improve their performance.
And Jones getting a new goalie coach and finally some time off.
And Dubnyk getting a fresh start during a contract year.
Not to mention that for 2.2M, this could be a really really good bet from DW.

Let's hope. I'm very pessimistic about Dubnyk's play, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
