Like this one a lot. Not sure Gaudette is ready to be the 3C, but everything else looks solid.

I'd rather add and not have to retain on Eriksson.

    Trades look good.

Markstrom and Toffoli are underpaid at that term. Markstrom will want at least 7 million at 4 years. 6x6 is more realistic

Stecher wont take a paycut even with 5 years.

Move Sutter somewhere and take some bad money back

OTT would rather you do so as well. We both want more youth/picks and want more cap lol

Canucks have already spent prospects and picks to get Miller and Taffoli (and Cernak here). Canucks would still have cap space under this scenario and could still trade Sutter.

Reports indicate that the market for Taffoli on the west coast has dried up. His wife works for the Dodgers.

Little chance Markstrom gets 6X6 from anyone except Detroit. Getting 5 years is possible. Not sure the Canucks give him that.

You may be right re Stecher. I agree with your point about Sutter.

I should point out that the theme here is for Benning to get team frendlier contracts.

If I am VAN, im adding Roussell and a 1st to the OTT trade, not retaining anything on Loui. OTT adds Hawryluk to give Van a cheap RFA

Instead of offering a 2nd to get Cernak, im signing Pietrangelo with the extra cap space..

You don’t have cap space Ferlands not retired yet unit his future is clear van needs to leave that cap space open

Maybe. It’s unfortunate, but it seems unlikely that Ferland may not play again.

To your point, if he’s ok to play, we shouldn’t resign Taffoli

I wouldn’t resign Toffoli to start with a sign Virtanen to extension at 3mil giving the nuks a younger player under team control and giving the nuks more flexibility over the next five yrs instead of being tight to the cap and not being able to add at the deadline or be active in the ufa market

With Hoglander and Pod coming, resigning Taffoli is a nice to have vs a need to have. $3M is too much for Virtanen

To start with your close to a mil short and a yr short on Toffoli contract for that money and term he’s going back to Cali, that contract could be a huge issue yr 4 and 5
Jake had 18 goals Toffoli had 24 and is a extremely streaky score disappears for 10 game stretches at a time, but Pod and Hoglander won’t be top 9 regulars until 2 yrs at the min Jake on a 3 yr deal fills that void for half of what Toffoli makes and allows either Hoglander or Pod to push Jake out of that role in yr 3 and he’ll be a player that is easily moved as Toffoli contract could be tough to move as we’ll still be in the flat cap world 3 yrs from now.

Where in Calli? Per reports, none of the CA teams are interested. The UFA market may be tighter than many expect.

At any rate, the title of the post is "Benning gets an A" implying that he would have to do better than expected.
