Edmonton declines. We'll take Chiasson for Weal and a 4th. Puljujarvi is neither for sale nor worth as little as a 2nd Round Pick. Holland's ask of a 1st or an A-prospect ready to contribute at the NHL level is still the only return I want to see: you don't have to agree with it, but the franchise - and most of its fans - have come to realize that the odds of Puljujarvi providing high value for two years as a cost-effective top-six winger are high.

I'd consider it for an extended Tatar tbh, but consider the odds of Edmonton trading Puljujarvi effectively moot at this point.

Why would Las Vegas exchange a 24-year-old RW signed for 6 years for a 27-year-old RW signed for one?

I think MTL will resign Tatar 4yrs 6mil. He has proven to be very effective for the Habs. While i am looking for a winger to develop with KK and using your analysis I would be willing to move our first in 2020 and we take on Chiasson. I too, like you believe he might just be a gem. I think Edm should look at signing Hoffman?

Kings just shed a ton of cap, why would they take on an injury-prone Byron at a $3.4 cap hit for three years just for an upgrade from a fourth to a second. Everyone is against the cap, can't imagine there isn't a better deal for the few teams with cap space than this.

Not to mention that he's 31 years old. I can see us doing this for a sixth, though.

I'm going off the Detroit trade from here on out, a 2nd rounder = one year of $5.7M, 3x3.4 = $10.2M over three, so just a second-rounder isn't enough.

Why would Mtl trade Byron now?
We have no cap issues and we don't have too many contracts on the books. Is he injury-prone? Maybe. Is he paid too much to play on a 4th line? Probably. But, when healty, he's a better-than-average PK with top-shelf speed.
As of today, Habs have limited moving pieces: Hudon is playing in Europe/KHL next year; Weise is gone via UFA; Ouellet will go back to Captain duty in Laval; Folin will either walk or be signed and go to Laval; Mete/Kulak battle it out for #6-7 D; Alzner can be burried in Laval if no CBO... So we're left with a choice of Weal/Poehling/Evans as 13th forward, depending who gets the starting job on the 4th.

Sooo, that's the lineup. If Habs sign a veteran for the 4th, Evans/Poehling can go back to Laval, or they trade Weal.

If Habs want to improve on Top-6 wingers, they can trade Domi + prospect + picks.

Help free up cap space for PietrAngelo. Highest paid player with no clauses. His game fits into Habs line up.

Just because he’s the one without a clause, doesn’t mean he’s the one to move.

Sure but a one for one trade with Tuch and Armia is not, even on the highest of high mountains
