Orpiks contract that was traded with grubauer only had 1 year left at 5.5 mil. Johnson has 3 years left for a total of about 10 mil. Might have to make the pick a 3rd or 4th. It's a lot easier to take on a cap dump that only effects your team for 1 year.

Rutherford went on Mark Madden show today, and was directly asked about trading Dumoulin or Petterssson. He gave a flat out NO. Expect both to stay, and expect Matheson to play RD on the 3rd pairing, with Riikola or POJ on the left side.

Grubauer also didnt have the pedigree/ value that Murray has. honestly at this point, I don't even care. I just want JJ off this team. Matheson could be a good D similar to Schultz under the right circumstances, but pairing him with JJ would just be a train wreck

missed that today. hopefully JJ is moved, because in order for Matheson to have any success in Pittsburgh, he CANNOT play with Jack Johnson. I view his skill set to match with Marino. Play Petterson third pairing with either Riikola/POJ, and give all the minutes to the top 5, go cheap with the 6th D

Given the Nucks are my Western Conference team the worst part about him is his age. He is pretty sound in his own end. I dont mind the idea of the pickup. But TVR would be better for the right side no question about it.

Hard to evaluate trades until players actually skate up for their respective team. I first thought hawks actually won the Panarin/Saad trade, and the Fleishman/Weiss for danault / 2nd round pick (romanov) trades.

I think Matheson will be better than expected. And they certainly overpaid for kapanen but he still should be a solid 50 point guy playing top 6 mins

If buried (which would be more comparable to Orpik bc they would both be completely dead cap) he's only at 6.6 mil split over 3 years

It's actually 9.75 mil over 3 years. And it should be buried

And if buried you take off over a mil per year... 9.75-(1.05*3)=6.6...
