Hawks are better of buying Maatta out. Make it DeHaan and it's all good.

Nothing is realistic about that Strome contract...

Kubalik isn't getting quite that much for 2 years, I'd say $4M or maybe $4.25M. Crow won't get that either IMO, $4M is the ceiling on 2 years and if he doesn't sign, Hawks look elsewhere. Also think Mitchell gets paired with Keith and Boqvist with De Haan. Maatta will get bought out if Hawks have to retain $1M; his buyout is $680K

Minor stuff but otherwise this is probably likely unfortunately. Decent roster, probably gets a wild card but not enough to do any real damage.

Maybe, but I’d rather get value back for Maatta than just buying him out. De Haan on the other hand I wouldn’t be opposed to trading him, but idk if anyone’s gonna take him after his injury riddled season.

Like I said it was reported that he could accept the QO. He’s not gonna get much more. Maybe 1.5M for a year, but not much.

Not entirely. Hawks can give him a qualifying offer for 1 year and still own his RFA rights. Strome isn't arbitration eligible so not much he can do besides sit out.

I disagree with the Kubalik thing. Looking at Evolving-Hockey’s model they have him at around 4.45X4 and I found something similar when doing my research, but he doesn’t have many comparables. Crow was offered 3.5X1 and he rejected it. He wants more money as reported by Friedman. I wouldn’t be against those defensive pairings, but Boqvist and de Haan were awful together in the playoffs.

Keith and Boqvist were awful in the playoffs and gave up more goals then any other pairing.

Right so $4.45 x 4 means at 3 years he gets less and 2 years less. I have no more then $4M at 2 years. He will get a 1 or 2 year deal and not only for the benefit of the Hawks to save cap but Kubalik will bet on himself and want to cash in big in a year or 2.

Crow rejected a first offer; not shocking. It was only $3.5M for 1 year. Hawks will counter with 2 years, Crow will counter with $4M. He's not going to get much more from any other team given his concussion history and the cost of him moving his family is greater then fans realize. He's not going to start with a new team for $500K difference.

I was talking more analytically and per 60 stuff. Maybe Kubalik’s deal was a little much, but not by much. This is a hot take but Crow was a top 10 goalie this past season. Obviously his age and injury concerns should bring his value down a bit. I just don’t think you can really let Crow go.

He'll stay a Hawk, he has publically stated he's willing to take a discount to stay

Nah we'll take him for Future Considerations.

With the sheer number of teams needing a 2C, one of them offer sheets $3 mil x 2 years and gives up a second. I find it unlikely he does $1 mill x 1 year.
