I'd rather just keep Holl over Schultz - also Simmonds in the top 6 plus that super slow/old 4th line is suspect

idk anything about those trades so I will let others comment

No big loss but Rodriques goes UFA once Toronto doesn't give him his qualifying offer. He couldn't do worse than a healthy scratch for league minimum.

Thornton doesn't leave SJ for Toronto for a 1.3 mil pay cut.

Ottawa and Carolina pass. But Andersen to Carolina for something ridiculous never gets old...

AP is not signing for 8.5 million for 6 years. He's gonna sign for more then 9 mil and 7 years. Only way that AAV lowers is if someone trades for his rights and offers him that 8th year.

I like hogberg. It’s risky but if it pays off awesome. If it doesn’t fix it at TDL.

Are you his agent?

Secondly you can’t sign him for 8 years. Only st Louis can. And only before FA.

None of us are Agents or GMS and second of all, you actually can sign him IF YOU TRADE FOR HIS SIGNING RIGHTS. Literally said that above. If AP wouldn't take 9 mil in St. Louis do you really think he's gonna take 8.5 in Toronto where the taxes are HIGHER ? Pierre Lebrun was on a radio talkshow and literally said St.Louis offered 9 mil x 7 years and he declined it.

He did an interview with the athletic saying he’s going to FA and the reported offer was 7.7 with no bonuses... Toronto can give him 50mil in bonuses alone his first 3 years there

You can put it in caps all you want... BUT YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!

You have to own his rights prior to TDL to sign an 8 year deal.
Never heard he wouldn’t take 9m in St. Louis... No word on what the term was. Even petro doesn’t know what the structure was.

If Lebrun is saying that today it goes against what he said last week.

I’m not sure what Petro’s going to sign for. That’s why I don’t post foolish things like my opinion is fact.

First off, it's not "foolish" things. Pierre Lebrun is the second best Insider outside of Bobby. So if Lebrun says that acquiring his rights lets the new team sign him to an 8th year, then I believe it. Secondly I was wrong it was Any Strickland who said the contract offer from St.Louis was 8x8 and not bonus laden and that AP is looking for a bonus structured contract. Anyway.....

For some reason the video isn’t loading but I will get to what you posted and try again.

Seems he knows about as much as you. The blues are the only team that can sign him to 8 years. Lebrun is great so is McKenzie and Friedman.... none of them know a damn thing about the CBA.

Again only the blues can sign petro to an 8 year deal. They owned his rights prior to the TDL.

The offer as reported was 7.7m but the term and structure were not known. There were rumours that it was as low as 4 years. I believe it was probably 8.

7.7m x 8 is the same as 8.8 x 7. His main issue was structure. It sounds like it was salary and back loaded. Leafs will front load the deal to the maximum allowable.

If the blues can get together with the leafs and complete the first sign and trade... even better. Leafs would probably do 7.7m x 8 on the spot.

Sorry bud but that 8 year extension rule after the deadline was eliminated from the new CBA that was signed July 10, 2020.

The first link it says it halfway down but I figured you would question the integrity of the link so I went to the CBA website and looked it up and its true. If you acquire his rights before he becomes a UFA you can sign him to an 8 year. I knew Pierre Lebrun wouldn't make a mistake like that, especially since I remember it was Lebrun who brought up on TSN about how EK couldn't sign a new contract with SJS until after the upcoming TDL.

We’re not trading Hogberg (unless we get Demko, then we might consider it)

That is a different rule. That is when you acquire a player on a one year deal. You used to have to wait till the next TDL to sign them to an 8 year extension.

Unless there was a different amendment that one does not apply to this rule.

For the leafs to sign him to an 8 year deal they would have had to acquire him by the TDL.

The ONLY team that can sign him to an 8 year deal is the blues. If they were to sign petro to Toronto’s structure and trade him to the leafs then it could be an 8 year deal. It would be the first sign and trade ever completed. So even that is far fetched.

So I decided to do the work, so here is the amendment you are referring to

“ Sign an 8-Year SPC
CBA §50.8(b)(iv) shall be amended to provide that when a Club acquires a Player who is signed through the subsequent Trade Deadline, it can immediately sign him to an 8-year SPC without waiting until the subsequent Trade Deadline if otherwise permitted to do so under Section 50.5(f).”

As you can see when a club acquires a player “WHO IS SIGNED THROUGH THE SUBSEQUENT TRADE DEADLINE” they can now immediately sign that player.

I’m a hockey fan, and I’ve watched what he has done at the nhl level. Haven’t seen much at ahl. I think he has potential. It’s not like his resume is that long.
