Thanks for the response. I'm just thinking out loud on their purported desire to get Petro. They'd need to dump some salary to make it go which means their only option is to sacrifice up front. They've also decided to blame their defensive woes on Andersen so they might be glad to have someone take his contract. Would you think throwing in a prospect like Bowers or maybe someone like Compher would make them bite?

I don’t think TML accepts, probably have to at least swap Donskoi for Kaut and Grubauer for Francouz, but it’s an interesting idea definitely from the Avs side, but probably less so from TML perspective.

Yeah Toronto Is looking for a bonafide top pair RHD (Pesce, Ekblad, Parayko). Not saying that nylander alone could get each of them, but nylander and a package could.

Im not a Leafs fan but Id imagine they would be more interested in cost controlled guys like Timmins/Kaut than Compher/Donskoi, but the Avs probably also really want to keep those ELCs

Mmmmm. Hard to tell. All the media is hyping up petro, but I don’t think Dubas would. I think he prefers being weak at one position (RD) versus being weak at two (RW, LW/C) and strong at one (RD).

So it could play a role in singing petro, but the leafs would have to clear major salary.

It would also give us little room to resign Rielly Hyman Sandin etc.

Totally agree. I think any team signing Petro is going to regret it not too far down the road. But I suppose if you win a Cup with him that could soften the blow of such a large contract for a guy that's going to be 31 in January. I know there are some Avs fans that want Sakic to go for it but I'm not one of them. Like, you said, it's better to try to create as much strength and balance throughout the team rather than overpaying for one guy.
