Every time i see a Wilson/Nylander ... makes me wonder how much value Nylander has .....People on this site say Nylander > Wilson but you almost never see Wilson traded by Cap fans but you see Nylander trade lot by Leaf fans...just saying there is a reason why Wilson is rarely traded and Nylander is frequently traded smile

Capitals will keep (imo) the better player

Don't put anything into player value based on what Leafs AGMs do. For reals.

Wilson is definitely more of impact player than Nylander...and is signed to almost $2,000,000 less. Nylander smokes him skill-wise but is more of a perimeter player which is okay in the regular season but is bullied in the playoffs when winning matters most. Wilson never seems to shy away from the physical play. Nylander seemed to have great chemistry with Backstrom in international play but...

That’s because boomers think “dA leAfS nEeD gRiT”

All depends on your team needs. Are you looking for possession and smooth skill or some physicality.

At least you didn't try to extract Parayko from the Blues as so many do. Although Wilson is a Toronto boy, think he invokes his NTC, even if Washington likes the trade (which I sure they don't)

id say Wilson is more than "physicality"...last 2 seasons hes on pacce for 52 points over 82 games.... hes a perfect mix of skill and physical play ....imo

He puts up decent points. He is a mix of good hockey physicality and down right stupid bull****. Nylander is a good mix of hockey IQ and talent. With the contracts the way they are I would say there value is close.

But again I’m no boomer who thinks adding one guy is somehow “grit” so the leafs are gritty 20 of 60 minutes? I don’t see the caps in any sort of a rush to move him either.

Besides leafs are already the most penalized team in the league... and we play clean.

I'd agree with that. I have been scouring the league and trying to find a comparable for the Leafs. There is Reaves but he doesn't have the offensive skill of Wilson. Jamie Benn is tough and skilled but also is signed for $9.500,000 for another 5 years. Not quite making twice what Wilson makes but Benn's cap hit is significantly higher.

In the playoffs Nylander has almost been as bad as Kessel and Dougie Hamilton for avoiding physical contact. Skill plays are cute in the regular season highlight reels.

That is kind of how I see it. I think Wilson is a known commodity but Nylander isn't yet...will he be the player we saw this year or was this an aberration and he is closer to the player from last year. I thought a lower draft pick might needed to be added by the Leafs...or Bracco.

What's tough for me is see how many Leafs weren't willing to play "playoff" hockey. Watching 6'0" Nylander avoid the physical contact like another ex-Leaf RW that was talented has been really magnified watching the small Tampa forwards getting right in the thick of things and not shying away or backing down. We have a few players on the Leafs willing to do that but not many yet. I certainly don't want a bunch of unskilled fighters or older slow guys that were tough.

Nylander has a different roll, he’s not there to lay huge hits. He gets in and retrieves a TON of pucks. Usually doesn’t take much more than a small bump and a good stick. He doesn’t shy away from dirty places either. He does avoid getting hit pretty well though.

I think we do however need an enforcer. Simmonds Martin ir Clifford will do. Bottom 6 guy that can go out when they get the nod to Protect our talent.

Nylander is a 60 point winger Wilson is a 50 point winger. Wilson to me adds more than points. Nylanders entire value is in production. Again that’s my take on it

Also Wilson looks to have cleaned up his act and capitals have Hathaway so Wilson doesn’t need to be as involved in the fighting aspect

Caps won't be trading the next Captain after Ovie moves on..... Wilson is bound for the C in DC and as Kevin Weekes calls him, a unicorn, in this league.... 30 goal ability if he gets more PP time in coming years

...I actually put a fictitious RHD in the Leafs lineup that I hoped to get from STL in a trade that makes $5.5 MIL...not sure if that matches any player there... smile

Since Pararyko to the Leafs seems to be in 20% of all posts on this site.....99.9% of CapFriendly fans figured you sly attempt of not naming that that 5.5m RHD. Thanks for your "uniqueness" of the trade.
