Description
Figuring out a way to get more picks while also clearing cap space for our bottom six is what is likely going to happen. I don't think Kempny get's moved and I believe he deserves another season to see if he can play like he did in 17-18. Jensen also stays as he killed it in the playoffs and was solid in the latter half of the season. We probably look for depth players in UFA.

Detroit's not trading a 2nd round pick for two bottom six players on bad contracts lol. If anything, you'd have to throw a second in there just to get them to take on those contracts. Also that is way too much for Namestnikov

This is just factually incorrect.

Cost per point calculator has the following guys at $125k per point this past season: Patrick Kane, Alex Kerfoot, Nazem Kadri, RIchard Panik. The contract is fine, but Detroit has no need and isn't swapping away picks.

Hagelin's cost per point this year was 110k, whereas Kucherov was at 111k.

They're on decent contracts. Washington just doesn't need them.

You are asking Detroit to take a $16.5M cap dump and give up a 2nd for Pilon?

LOL he pulled out the cost per point on me. Kucherov makes 9.5 million don't even try to compare the two

I wish the rest of the caps fans would understand this....
Hagelin, was not signed to score. sure, secondary scoring is GREAT, he was singed for one reason and one reason only, to KILL F'n Penalties..

He is not going to give you 15,20,25 or 30 goals.. HE is going to kill. That's what he is here for. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Trade him and now you are back to using 19 on the PK... Typically you want to avoid that..

Now, panik, I would pay Detroit to take him.. its a salary dump.. so a 4th should be about the cost... along with a prospect to say thanks for the help.

You don't like Panik on PK? Interesting. I thought they signed him because he had played 90 minutes the year before on Arizona's league leading PK.

If they each played 82 games, Panik was on pace for 31 points this year, and Hagelin was on pace for 35. They each make 2.75M/year. For mid-career checking wings, the value is solid.

For comparison, in Detroit's bottom six, Luke Glendening cost $200k per point last year, Darren Helm $240k, Justin Abdelkader, $1.46 million.

If Detroit wanted slightly better contracts in their bottom six, they make this trade. But they don't. They want to get younger and develop future superstars. So they pass, even before it costs a 2nd they're not parting with.
