Description
I am no GM and I'm sure others will have varying options on how the Pens should be built. Speed and youth was GMJRs words at the end of the season and thats what I had looked to with this team. I am happy with the Top 6 forwards and the Top 4 D so no changes there. A third line revamp was necessary and I can't wait to see HCMS comment here saying that Riikola won't play but I think he is ready for the ice time.

Reasons for the trades were mostly to try and recoup assets that were recently given away and while this is a top heavy draft, I am OK with the pens not having a first round pick if it means they can have a well-balanced roster that can go up and down the line up if need be.

Murray is traded much like Jake Allen, but added a second instead of a third. Some people think he will go for a first and then there are others who think he is worth nothing, but a second seems decent value for a two time cup winner.

Next is the JJ trade... taking one deal over the other and have Perreault alternate between ZAR seems like a nice compliment in my eyes. While yes, JJ stinks and doesn't do much for the Jets, this has been something I've seen floating around all over Twitter and some other hockey rumor sites and I think it can benefit both teams.

This one i was less confident on as I am not sure of AAs value but for some reason I see a team like the Oilers and or the Leafs try and get a player like Horny. A line with McDavid and Hornqvist could be fun to watch especially if Horny finds an extra gear for a year or two but please correct me if I am off of the boards with this trade.

I like DeSmith, but I am not sure if he really wants to be the backup in Pittsburgh after this year. We also need to get rid of Bjugstad ASAP. Finding a cheaper alternative as a back up like Anderson to replace DeSmith could work but you can also trade for a more younger veteran presence ala Fleury for more support but this trade was just to get rid of unwanted cap space and trying to get something in return.

On the back end a signing like C Tanev would be nice. A solid supporting d man who can help Riikola develop and FINALLY give him a chance to play is all I am looking for.

Be sure to let me know how off I am in these trades as I am sure most of the value isn't necessarily there but if this was the Pens roster for 2020/21 I'd be quite happy.

I think it's fair for Murray given the Allen trade, but I still wouldn't touch it. I'd rather just sign a free agent and save the assets.

Oh I'm certain most people will be iffy on this trade but this could be any team looking for a No.1 atm. I just feel as though Murray is destined to go to Minnesota for some odd reason. Also. Tell Billy G to stop shopping Dumba...

Rumor has it we wanted Jarry in the Zucker deal but would have had to take JJ coming back, but apparently Guerin likes Murray as well. We will see I guess.

As for Dumba, I don't think any Wild fans want to trade him. He's an ambassador to the game, won a King Clancy, plus he's a great hockey player and probably a #2/3 defenseman on many teams in the league with potential to be considered a good #2 on the top pairing if he returns to pre-injury form, but the fact is that we have 4 great defenseman heading into the expansion draft and one of them will likely be exposed unless we go the 8 skaters route. This franchise has needed a #1 center stemming back 20 years to our creation, and using Dumba or Brodin could get us one. Our prospect pool is very deep on the right side, especially with Addison's addition (thanks for him BTW, he looked fantastic in our scrimmages prior to the play-ins) with nobody noteworthy on the left. Brodin also showed his importance in game 4 against Vancouver when Suter was hurt and couldn't play. This wasn't as much of a factor as it used to be, but Suter will turn 36 next season so having an insurance policy behind him such as Brodin isn't the worst idea in the world. Dumba probably also has a higher trade value than Brodin even though Brodin is the better player simply due to the fact every team wants an offensive right shot D that can play on the top pairing and score big goals in clutch moments. He just makes more sense as the odd man out, as much as it pains me to say it.

I know the Jets defense is garbage and Perreault makes a bit more but there's no way they do this.
