If We're giving up half our available cap for a has-been then we need your 2020 1st + to be considered.

We're not in any position to be taking on cap dumps. Maybe if it's Burns or Vlasic for Turris, but otherwise, no thanks.

I would do Turris, Ekholm, and Saros (@50%) along with 2020 first and 2021 second for say Sorensen.

Hilarious. Is this the part where Preds fans are supposed to counter with Burns, Merkley, Ferraro, and two firsts for say Tinordi?

First, that's not at all comparable. Burns is leagues ahead of Turris. He's a game-breaking talent. While there is obviously some risk with his contract, there is tremendous upside potential...you can't pay a defenseman 5 million/season to do what Burns does. With Turris, you could pay someone 1-2 million for a year or two to do what he does. He is not a game-breaking talent. The upside potential is minimal. Keep in mind that Toronto paid a first to get rid of one year of Marleau's contract...

Ferraro and Merkeley are both top prospects. Ekholm is a solid top-4 defenseman on a great contract (that expires on two years), and Saros is an average goalie with only a year on his contract.

I wasn't going for a direct comparison, just trying to illustrate how unrealistic your offer is, by reversing the teams.

I don't feel like getting in a tit for tat argument about who's undervaluing which guys on each other's teams, but I do have to comment on the bolded part of your post. Some risk? Burns is overpaid now, and there's five more years to go on his contract. He'll be making $8M until he's 40. I'm sorry, but I see his deal being worse than Seabrook's before long. Sure he might have a bit of a bounce back next season, but how can you honestly say there's "tremendous upside" in a declining 35 yr old with an anchor of a contract?

Because Burns could actually win a Norris in the next 2-3 years. I don't think he's going to decline that much given his freakish attributes and habits. I really don't think he is overpaid right now when you look at what other defensemen have gotten. If Barrie got 6 million, Burns certainly deserves 8.
