Dubois is 22 years old; Monahan is 26 (very soon). I think Dubois develops further into a better 1C than Monahan is/will be.

Just showing the max price that CGY could "afford" here to show CLB fans that Dubois is touchable -- every player is available for the right price.

As a Flames fan, you have to agree that Dubois (22) is a better fit for CGY, especially after Gaudreau gets moved (and is no longer playing with Monahan full-time).

The only way Columbus moves PLD is for 4 1st round picks.... in an offersheet form.....

Lol, no, that's not the only way, c'mon. Getting a cheaper, already proven 1C who is 26 years old plus a massive overpay (in this deal) is better than four 1st rounders from a contender.

Recall that contending / playoff teams usually pick in the #20-31 zone of the 1st round...

The deal above is worth well more than four 1st round picks. Walk through the values of those players coming in.

Columbus has not want or desire to move PLD.... you don’t trade your star players unless they don’t want to be there. The only way Columbus moves PLD is for all futures. PLD is younger and better then Monahan. Yes it’s an overpayment but we aren’t trading out 22 year old number 1 center (and arguably our best forward) for someone older. PLD isn’t available unless we are blowing the team up and going for futures.
