Why would Ottawa want any of those players? Sens are absolutely swimming in bottom six LWs and LHDs. Sens have plenty of LD options, so they probably aren't interested in a guy like Mete, and they definitely wouldn't be interested in Alzner.

I know MTL fans love the idea of Ottawa taking Byron off their hands, but beyond him being from Ottawa, there's basically no reason for them to be interested. Byron is aging, injury prone and is locked in at a big money contract with term. None of those things make any sense for a rebuilding team with the incredible depth at LW like Ottawa has. There's not really any reason for them to commit a roster spot to a guy who is completely replaceable.

You can find a guy like that every year in free agency, and that level of guy probably isn't getting a contract that big in a flat cap.

Also he's 31, and has significant injury concerns. He's not going to be a 30-40 point guy if he's only playing a little over 50% of the season, like he has over the last two years.

Also Byron isn't top 6 on any team in the league.

Artem Anisimov has 0.49 PPG in his career and 0.50 PPG in the past 4 years compared to Byron's career 0.41 PPG and 0.48 PPG in the past 4 years. Despite that, Anisimov's $4.55Mx2 was traded at 31 for a bad deal in 4th liner Zack Smith, 1-for-1. Not a 3rd. Paul Byron is now 31, and has $3.4Mx3 left on his deal. Get a grip. He's not worth a 3rd, he's a 3rd liner at best, and the Sens have no interest in him because they're absolutely packed full of bottom 6ers. There's nothing interesting here.

I think you just need to package Alzner with a 2nd and a 3rd. It's two years. That's just my opinion, PLEASE don't hate.
