Why you don't trust Tavy & Matthews as center.. every leafs friends are crucifying Marner from the playoff performance... time to move him out and make some room$$$
Petry @ 3M is a real bargain in there and would set your defense for big next season... with our 1st pick you will get a GREAT kid ready in 2 years to jump in your top6

what? That's a weird way to go with what i said.
1-yes, i trust them, why wouldnt i? because i want a player that's closer to value than domi?
2-lots of leaf fans are idiots and even if Marner was bad in the playoffs that doesnt mean the leafs are going to take a haircut on a trade for him
3-Petry is a 32 year old with one season till UFA, his value is relative to that, so it's not near as high
4-Montreal's 1st is the 16th over all. picks in that range arnt usually in the NHL for 3-4 years

Not everyone crucified Marner and this package is crap. An old defenceman and a middle 6 50 point player and a later 1st does not equal a 90+ player who is signed for 5 more years and is just entering his prime.

It is true... they are more mad at Dubas who gives those heavy load contract... that's why 10,5M value reduce is payback.
I understand he is a AMAZING player but you won't get 4x1st for him... we all know with the cap stuck at 81,5M for the next 3 years... young draft kids will be a must in any team to survive under the cap

Again you are using a segment of the fanbase to paint us all. Dubas is terrific, anyone who can't see the good he's done just doesn't want to. They are all cement headed morons who are pining for the good old days of clutch and grab and fighting all the time. Those days are gone and the new era we are entering is going to be different. The team is young and they are still growing. Patience is needed more than anything else.

I agree that he made this team good... but we the Cap issue, do all the math's you want... you can't built a team with 34M on 2 guy's... leaving less than 50M for 20 more players= you will always have holes and cheap labour somewhere in your line-up

Every decent team as 2 Key player around 10M, so Mtl should invest on a second one... and havinf 6 Bottom guy's at 2-3M each is not the solution

First of all, tell me which 2 players make a combined 34 million. Secondly, there are no bad deals on TO. Everyone is easy to trade and will bring back a fair return. We don't have any Alzners on the Leafs. Or Ladd's or Lucic's. Those are contracts that cause problems, stars getting star money isn't a problem. In Chicago their two best players are Kane and Toews and they signed their deals for a much higher cap percentage than our stars did. The team does need tweeking and it's happening, Kap is proof of that but this whole desire to blow it up literally 4 years after finishing last is the sort of panic stricken nonsense that I can't handle

Not sure if you have noticed but they are not going to have trouble fielding a team.

The difference between a guy like Engvall and pick any bottom 6 guy who makes 2-3 million is negligible, most bottom 6 guys are super overpaid, you can almost always find guys who will be as effective for less. The leafs could use 1 more defenceman but Lehtonen could be part of the answer and if Sandin, Dermott or Liljegren take a step the defence could be really good.

Today basically Leafs as 7M available for 5Forward, 2 Def... and 3 of these guys would need a 10% RFA increase= +/-2M each... so you do have 1M left for 4 roster spot.
That's why I think that they should move away Marner... and get 2 NHL good pieces (one RHD + one RW) + 1st + A-Prospect... this would solved all their issue for the next decade

They can move Johnsson and get another 3+ million, Robertson is making the team on an ELC. Dermott and Mikheyev may make 4 combined and Lehtonen is under a mill as is Barbarov.
