Wild aren't looking for a top line winger let alone a rental so that trade would never go through.

As most of us agree, Crow is not worth $5M....at that price let him walk and grab Markstrom who still has 3 to 5 good years in him

Shaw on the top line is a nightmare....a bad one. No way

I think Crow will wait awhile to sign with anyone, I feel like him and his agent need to discuss his health and his future in the NHL. Right now its 50/50 if he retires or play.
I think Saad shouldn't be traded unless at the TDL, I think him on the 3rd line with Suter or Kurashev is a need. It worked well with Kahun and Kubalik. So my opinion Strome is the most likely in the foward group to be traded

As far as Saad goes, I'd have to disagree. They're currently running Kunin as a winger, and will need to replace Galchenyuk next season. They're looking to compete soon with a new goalie and a Kaprizov. A 45-50pt, 2 way winger would be great for them for a lower return, e.g. a 15-25th overall 1st rounder.

Markstrom I doubt you can grab at 5m. He's said he'd prefer Vancouver, and they can also make room for that salary. Not that I dislike the idea of Markstrom, I just don't see it happening is all.

As far as Shaw goes, why do you say that? When he was on MTL he helped them nearly lead the league in corsi and 5v5 efficiency. Yeah he was injured this year, but Shaw can slot in anywhere top 6, that was the best part of him! Genuinely curious on this one.

The only reason I'm trading Saad is because he's at 6m. Losing that 6m contract gives us a lot of room to manipulate and move players before the season starts and bring in a better roster overall. Definitely agree though you could use another winger.

Well Saad only has 1 year left at 6m, he resign for 4.5 for 5 years.
I think trading Shaw, Maata , will give the hawks plenty of cap

If we trade Maatta, do you plan to keep DeHaan? Shaw is also a hard trade because of his injury history, and current contract.

Shaw still has positive value, we can get a 5th or 6th for him.
De haan will be traded before Maata and if we need to clear cap at this point, it going to be Seabrook

No one is gonna be taking Seabrook at this point!! And I'm not sure if I'd trade Shaw for a 5th or 6th. That's a really really low return.

Minnesota is after a center and they aren't making a run next year so a 1 year rental does them no good. The Hawks, if they trade Saad, will maximize their return and that will be with a team making a run next year like Colorado who could use another top 6 winger.

Crow is too expensive at $5M. He will not cost that in Chicago, MAYBE if he has to move to another team but given his concussion issues and his age, teams aren't going to be throwing money at him at least for more then 1 or 2 years. In Chicago he will cost $4M to $4.5M max.

Montreal played Shaw there because they were weak at the winger position while their younger guys were developing. Shaw is two years removed from that and with yet another major concussion. If your plan is A) to play him on the first line and B) bet he is injury free, well then we are worse off then Montreal 2 years ago which is flat out bad. If you're going to move Saad, do it on the premise you at least bring in a solid player like Tuch, Hoffman, etc. or don't move Saad. We aren't in the business of regressing for picks and prospects right now and that is what this move does while making forward group noticeably weaker.

Highmore has earned his spot, no need for Brassard, just spending $1M+ more then you need to. Carps is not a 3rd liner, he's a capable defensive winger but not a scoring guy.

Overall, this a weaker team then last year with moving De Haan and Saad and bringing in a guy like Brassard

Minnesota wouldn’t make this trade for one year, but I can see an extension being put in place as part of the trade. I don’t know if Shaw is a first line player, but if he’s healthy then he could be the guy that gets in on the forecheck so that toews and kubalik can concentrate on their own game. I think moving de Haan over maata is the right call, if maata regresses next year it is an easy contract to buy out. I’d like to see the hawks bring in a forward for the third line, maybe Craig smith. Crawford seems to want playing time over a big money contract, so 2 years by 4 million could work. This isn’t a team that will go deep into the postseason, but it’s hard for me to see a way that could be the case given the cap situation and current talent.

ChiHawk is right. The Wild have no room for Saad. I don't think he is a bad player but it would be a waste of assets to go out and get him. Plus they don't have the cap space to extend him so they would waste a 1st round on a rental when they don't know if they will be a lottery team next year. Easily could back fire.

Wild need Saad less than they needed Zucker (dumped for futures). Parise, Kaprizov, Fiala, Foligno, Greenway, Donato, Zucc are the LHS wings already on the Wild.
-2 (Fiala and Parise) are better
-1 (Zucc) is equal
-2 (Foligno and Greenway) fill a bottom-6 roll better
-1 (Donato) is in the doghouse
-1 (Kaprizov) is one of the top players not in the NHL.
