marner might be better than pesce, but pesce and teuvo make less COMBINED than marner. plus marner isn’t worth a top 4 RHD and first line forward

I mean you are getting Kap, while Kap certainly isnt as good as TT, he still has value. but I agree. Canes would be taking in way too much cap. In a vacuum, I think Marner + Kap for TT + Pesce is a fair deal. Marner is clear cut more valuable than Pesce, while TT is clear cut better than Kap, but with the salary included, it doesn't make sense for Carolina.

Wow, no. Teuvo for Marner is roughly the same. Marner produces more, but Teuvo makes half of what Marner does, so I think the value is about even. Pesce and a 1st for Kapanen? Get lost.

No, I don’t think so. If you make the same comparison between Kapanen and Turbo you could conclude that they had equal value going into this season and that was certainly not the case.

Kapanen and Teuvo? There's not an aspect of the game where Teuvo isn't better.

Marner and TT? Teravainen is better in the defensive and neutral zones, and doesn't sacrafice offence to do iot. Marner makes 2x as much as TT too. So the better value? Easily is TT. His cost/point is FAR Better too

I don’t find turbo to be better than marner defensively or in the neutral zone. But that’s just a matter of opinion.

I’m also not advocating that Carolina should make a trade involving turbo and marner. Every teams cap situation and build is different.

Nah this guy's too far gone. Marner is objectively a better player than Teravainen. If you want to say the packages aren't worth it sure, but Marner is an above PPG player, and has great zone entry

Teuvo is statistically one of the best defensive forwards in the the NHL, and his transition numbers are better than Marner. He's better in both zones than Marner and it's not close. Offensively, he'd EASILY hit 100 points a year with Matthews and Tavares and everything. Easily. He makes 1/2 of what Marner does, and so I'd say the value is equal if not favouring TT. Not saying Marner isn't great, just saying I'd rather have TT

TT is better at zone entries. According to stats at least. TT is better defensively. I don't think you can say objectively Marner is better than Teravainen. I think Teravainen is the most underrated forward in the NHL. He's a point per game player who's elite defensively and in transition. Marner is a great player, I'm not saying anything bad about him, I'd just rather have Teuvo Teravainen

His zone entry numbers, and zone exit numbers are better than marners. Again, not worlds apart, but a good margin.

Offensively
Marner >>> TT
Teuvo is a PPG player, but Marner is a freak. No one is denying that.

Overall, I don't know who I'd want in a vaccum, it would depend on the rest of the team, but when you factor in TT makes a fraction over 5 mil and Marner makes 11, it's not close.
