Laughton’s your leading scorer why would you trade him lmao

He is a solid two way C/LW, but PHI has centres and a stocked at wing. They lack speed. While Kapanen is the better, younger offensive player (although only 9 more pts in 20 more games), hes fast and his name goes a long ways in Philly.

Laughton plays a feisty, two way physical game and theres little offensive drop off from him to Kapanen, but with a healthy Patrick, a Frost, and tons of options at 4th line center (Rubotsov, Bunnamon, etc...) I make that move to get speed.

Non interest in giving anything for Van Reimsdyk. If I wanted to overpay someone I’d do it via free agency and not give up assets and we may have to overpay Gusev or Palmeiri

I really think people are undervaluing Laughton he's a very versatile player who can play all three forward positions and can play up and down the line up. Ideally I would want to keep him and have him either play wing on the third line or center the fourth line next year. He's the type of player that teams who win the cup have in their bottom six. There's enough scoring depth on this team when they get going that Kapanen would be a luxury to have where I think Laughton fills more of a need on this team.

Kap is one of the most overrated players on this site. By everyone Leaf fans and non leaf fans alike. He isn't gritty, he doesn't have scoring prowess and he certainly isn't good defensively. He just talks about it and sometimes gets involved after the whistle. He's lazy defensively and blows assignments constantly.

And by the 30 game mark no one would remember Kapanen. This is exactly the move they need.

Throw Matthew Strome in the deal with Laughton for Kapanen and i think that would work...gives leafs 2 big bodies to add to lineup and allows us to then trade Kerfoot to try to lower his cap hit
