The reasoning goes as follows:
Tablot is a UFA next year. I haven’t seen many comments touting the Flames keeper situation. Trading for Murray would be more optics and pedigree move than advanced stats.
The Flames also have room on to take on a bottom pairing Dman. JJ is packaged into the deal as PIT can in theory leverage Murray’s rights against another team, say for arguments sake Minny. ERod is thrown in as a sweetener.

there r a million other guys out there that r as good as rodrigues, & if hes so good just keep him, also murray is worth around a 2nd so ur basically dumping jj's contract on us, no thanks u obviously dont know as much about hockey as alot of ppl on here including myself

Jack Johnson is a LD. Flames have 5 LD all significantly better than him signed under contract next year. He also has negative value due to his albatross of a contract. If you want him gone add Bjugstad to the trade and take back Lucic.
