Leafs shake things up with Wild Blues Pens

Description
I'm new to hockey and I would love to get feedback on the trades from Wild, Blues Pens and Leaf fans.
Leafs get more physical (Maroon, Dumba, Parayko) and get a better defence.
Blues get some value and alleviate cap issues.
Wild gets a new goalie and picks to decide the direction they want to go in.
Pens move Murray for new players after the GM said he was looking to make the team younger (and stay below the cap).
Sandin and Liljegren can be called up late into the season.

Will update when I get feedback about the trades and signings

Grats on new to hockey it’s obvious lol

Cannot make all these low ball trades.

Do some more research or read other posted offers to get a feel for all of this. Be prepared to get slammed but this is hockey & it get rough 😂 good luck & enjoy.

I love what you’ve done with the right side. Our defence would be among the best in the league.

A few changes I would make, is that I’d keep Freddie over Murray.

In the dumba Trade, id give them Kerfoot and 2 seconds as well as some late picks.

You’re quite off on the parayko Trade. I like him and think he’s an awesome dman, but some STL fans on here think he’s God and is only worth AM 34. Instead of Johnsson, add Nylander. Make the trade:
Nylander
Král
3rd
For Parayko

Also, if you could trade Kapanen and some how keep Alex Kerfoot that would be awesome. He’s a great 3C.

And you'd be way off. They're not moving Dumba for a goalie on an expiring deal or a 3C.

Well then we can’t afford him cause that’s the most we can give.

Minny will be shopping for a goalie - Dumba won't be used but I can see Minny making a play at a Freddie

what does that have to do with matt murray not being near as good a goalie as Andersen in the last 3 seasons?

There's options in free agency and they'll have plenty of cap space if that's the route they choose to go. They also have AHL goalie of the year Kahkonen to take a look at, he wasn't bad in his cup of coffee with the team last year. They're not giving up anything meaningful for a goalie, I can assure you of that. Worst case scenario for a change is they go with Kahkonen/Stalock and buy Dubnyk out.

Welcome to hockey, welcome to AGMs. I must inform you, though, that the Blues are not trading Parayko. And if they were, that offer doesn't even get you in the room.

There are options via FA , likely 1/2 year deal options for used to be starters (35+) or Lehner/Holtby at 7-8 x 6/7 year which does nothing if Minny really has this prospect a year or 2 away from stepping in - Aquiring a Freddie Andersen type goalie with a year left and is a significant upgrade to what Minny currently has and allows for this prospect to play a 2 A role with Wild or a 1 A role with the farm - never said anything about about a significant cost to aquire such a goalie - a late 1st or 2nd rnd pick is not a significant cost to aquire a legit starter for a single year

This site overvalued what a late 1st rnd pick really is (25% chance that player plays 200 NHL games over the course of his career) and a 2nd rnd pick is 12% - niether of which make an immediate impact on a team drafting them

Thanks for the feedback! My thinking was that they needed the cap space and already had three good goalies? Also the pens GM came out and said he was going to look to make the team younger. If they are RFA's they could be in charge of the contracts being offered.

Yeah my thinking was that the pick would make up for the risk in acquiring a goalie with a year left. Minni could look at testing him out and seeing what they have with their AHL goalie before resigning Andersen

What do you think they would move him for? Mind you I listed Dumba with salary retained so I assume they would be looking for a lot.

In that he is not worth the 5.5? Or in that he would ask for more? My thinking was that if he was valued at anything below 5, Pittsburg would be able to hold on to him

Thanks!! And hmmm yeah I thought that one was a bit ambitious and my bias may have been showing a bit lol. Correct me if I'm wrong but won't the Blues have cap issues soon? I was thinking that they would want to resign Pietrangelo just locked up Faulk. So I was thinking they would be looking to move Parayko in order to have the cap space to sign Pietrangelo. I was initially thinking of adding Nylander or Marner to this trade or even adding Muzzin (Blues get more quality on the LD since they have the RD covered). But I figured the Blues want cap space above all.

I'm not a blues fan though so I didn't really know what to think

I don't know that there's a deal to be made with that kind of salary retention. The cap isn't going to be moving much in the next few years and the Wild will need to figure out how to replace Staal's steal of a contract with a top 6 center and then somehow find another. On top of that, Fiala and likely Kaprizov will need to be locked up to long-term deals next summer. I think Guerin is going to look at shedding salary just like almost every GM out there.

The Blues will move guys like Allen, Bozak and perhaps Steen (unless he does them a favor by retiring to join the coaching staff/front office. Parayko is going nowhere, we don't want Marner (or any $10M+ player, really) and we are quite stocked at LD already.
