Matthews for like 5.75 for 4 years and Reilly takes Dahlins place, I was about to say drop the 2021 1st because Matthews contract is short, but after typing that out, Buffalo does that trade. Dahlin is great, but 1 great player doesnt get it done anymore. Sabres have 2 and cant get it done. They would have 2 elite Centers and theyre Defense actually improves for now as Dahlin still hasnt developed that defensive part of his game yet

I doubt Dahlin will be the "top defenseman the NHL has have ever seen." The Sabres would be instantly better and a contender. You would have 4 years to extend Matthews, if you cant, you deserve to lose.

And Dahlin is breaking records of some of the best dmen to play. So yeah he will be up there. And we're totally neglecting that we're losing our best prospect and any chance of replenishing prospects. This would be a disaster.
