Description
Hate losing Meir, but that return is fair we need a goalie and some depth and NY could use another top 6 power forward
The other trades are fair I think! What does everyone want.

23 year old's like Timo dont get dealt very often that's for sure. I think the deal is ok value wise, as it fills holes the sharks desperately need filling, but TImo is by far the best player and shouldn't be traded. at the least add a first

Timo and Buch have the same PPG (0.60) during their NHL careers.

I see Meier as the better player, but not by this much. I think Strome/Buchnevich would need to be removed and replaced by a B/C-level prospect.

Sorry not sure what you mean... That's what the numbers say.

Timo: 1.7 xSPAR
Buch: 3.4 xSPAR

Rangers got double the on-ice value from Buch at half the cap hit this season.

If you want Josh Anderson at something like that rate, you're going to have to offer sheet him, and offer more than that - not only are we not trading him for picks, he's not going to sign for that little.

He has had a contentious past with your front office and is coming of back to back shoulder injuries with a major surgery so I’m hesitant to give to much or sign him to long till we see he’s good to go and the same guy. With all this I feel I’m being more than fair... plus your team
Headlines already are saying he’s probably gone this offseason

I hate losing him but at the end of this contract his qualifier is 10 mil and I don’t think he’s worth that so I give him up while his value is high and use him to fill 3 needs this helps us and The rangers and just works... as long as NY doesn’t overvalue everything they have like I expect... even then there are 7/8 teams out there willing to give up a lot for Meir!

I hear you but in 3 years tell me how we resign him to 10m AAV? That’s his qualifier because of how Wilson set up his base salery in this contract? I think we don’t have any choice but to trade him. And just so you know he was on my no F ing way we trade him until a smarter AGM on here showed me his qualifier at 10 min and now I’m thinking we’re stuck trading him

I usually reserve nuanced arguments for people who bother to show a willingness to think things through, but I'll go ahead and spell it out for you.

For one, I'm saying that your memory of what you've read is colored by confirmation bias. The injury isn't expected to be career-affecting (he was trying to avoid having to lose time to surgery by playing through it, not getting regularly reinjured or anything like that), and the front-office issues were three years ago. There's plenty of speculation (that's where the headlines come from), but nothing confirmed.

But much more important is your absurd position w/r/t his salary. His present pay rate was the low offer that Kekalainen said "take it or leave it" to that CAUSED that contentious negotiation three years ago that you're leaning on. He's had two VASTLY better seasons since then (and one injury-marred one). And now all of a sudden you think you're going to get him to take a $225K discount? The very suggestion is beyond absurd. You're trying to have it both ways - putting extra emphasis on a three-year-old contract dispute as reason for him to leave us, and then turning right around and fiscally screwing him even harder. That's why I didn't bother to offer a full counterargument when you tried to blow me off - because while accidents happen and so benefit of the doubt applies with an initial reply, doubling down on that bull**** is such a ludicrously excessive degree of fail that any benefit of the doubt was immediately forfeit. And I generally opt not to waste that much time with folks who evidently didn't bother to do any research beyond glancing at headlines and thereafter going immediately into vulture mode.

This is not vulture mode however you are clearly in a fan mode and not a AGM mode
The truth is he’s coming off back to back shoulder shoulder injuries and a surgery to repair a torn labrum which isn’t as scary as it use to be

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26999506/

but it’s still 2 injuries in a row and worries me.

He is available via trade and there are a few reports swirling at the trade deadline

https://amp.reddit.com/r/BlueJackets/comments/eupyxe/with_the_cbj_shopping_josh_anderson_what_should/

https://thehockeywriters.com/columbus-blue-jackets-josh-anderson-nhl-trade-deadline/

However I will give you that what I am offering him salary wise and for trade is low given the expanded research I’ve done. But with the injury’s it does diminish his value a bit.

The revisions make it a lot more plausible. Should note that Simek isn't of much value to the Jackets because he's a LD and we're massively overstrength at that position. I'm not sure about True (we've got lots of depth and young-up-and-coming centers already), but that might be a gamble worth taking; I'd have to research him more.
