Lol. Quit liking hockey why??

Over dramatic for sure but I cant stomach the idea of going for another defenseman. We have so much depth in that area and it's not like sanderson is a guy like dahlin that you cant pass up. So I would be upset not taking a shot at an offensive talent

He has it specifically because he wants to play in the NHL but not for Buffalo (it was playing under Botterill but i dont believe Adams changes anything). I am extremely familiar with his personal opinion on it, your wasting your time

First of all, you are correct, the two seconds are about correct for moving up 2 spots.
https://www.broadstreethockey.com/2013/4/25/4262594/nhl-draft-pick-value-trading-up
Second, the third for the rights to Pilut are also just about correct, so the trade as written is just about the correct value.
Third, what if the Devils wanted to move up 2 spots and gave us there 2nd 3rd first roung picks for our 8th and 38th. Then we draft Sanderson.
Geoff Sanderson was so poorly treated in Buffalo by Ruff. Imagine if Geoff was given better line mates and better ice time. He could have scored 40 goals for us.

You do know that Jason has a great reputation for getting along with the players.
You do know that Lehner was very complimentary after Robin recovered from his near suicidal moments.

You do know that even Mike Harrington, who disliked whoever took over from Murray, said Botterill had great people skills.
I cannot find the link, but it was in the News a few weeks back.
I do not know where you got the idea that Botterill did not play Pilut, I thought Krueger was the coach who did not play him.

I wanted to put in here "Geoff Sanderson, the great forward Buffalo misused, They did the same thing with Gilmour too, that had Gilmour with Ray I think on the 4th line.

He didnt hate him personally but the roster mismanagement and Pegula's didnt help. I dont think I can divulge any more info about how I know, because I dont know legally or at least ethically if I can, thats all I can say and will not defend it if people dont believe me. I'd rather not face the repercussions than prove myself in an online forum

Well, I have a ton of inside information, and I cannot divulge the source.
Mine story is totally different from yours.
Much of mine is also corroborated in the news, especially if you read between the lines.
Let me add, I know you like Krueger, but there is plenty of performance evidence that HE is the problem, so indirectly that makes Botterill the problem
Five players have their worse career years (Skinner, Sheary, Rodrigues, Vesey and Hutton) 1/4 of the team, terrible line ups, terrible PK and PP all point to coaching.
I was not happy with not bringing in a better center option than Johansson, but maybe the deal was not there.
I hated the first Scandella trade than he made it worse the acquisition of Frolik.
I do not want to review his trades because you have a totally different take on them, that is up to you.
But to content that players are leaving because of Botterill is totally unfounded and debunked by the evidence.
Let me add, he inherited a last place over all team, this roster is MUCH better. If coaching had not buggered up so badly, this team would have achieved more.

That isn't nearly as valuable as you seem to think it is. Pick value is pretty much a flatline at this point in the draft. For 5 slots in the early 2nd you are looking at a 4th at best really.

A recent example from the top of my head, the leafs traded our 1st rounder down 5 slots and got the 76th pick in return. Your 2nd is only worth a bit less than our 1st so you should be able to get something after pick 85 depending on how far you are willing to move.

I figure the leafs can trade our 2nd for STL 2nd and get anh 4th in return this year (10 pick drop and we get 98 in return) for example.

That Leafs example you mention is literally the worst such trade in recent years though. They should have been able to land a 2nd - everyone else has.

Without looking at comps, I'd say moving down 10 spots in the 2nd round could net you a late 3rd.

I'm looking at other recent examples and you're wrong. Just last year the 37th pick got moved for the 44th and 83rd pick, which is right in line with where I valued my proposal based on a guess. The leafs had a late 1st which is virtually the same value and got the 76th which is pretty par for the course. There are certainly some examples where a team did better, but the leafs trade is far from the worst example and is pretty typical of proper pick value.

Another example 34 got moved for 45 and 65 which is a far larger drop and also right in line with my guessed example.

Once again 41 got moved for 48 and 82 which is again exactly in line with my valuation.

50 (relevant for the leafs) got moved for 64 and 126 and I am proposing 51 for 61 and 98.

Look at late 1st instead of early 2nd round picks and you'll see that I'm not wrong. The Leafs trade is the worst. Dubas just isnt a very good negotiator.

What you mean like when Chicago and Dallas moved 26 for 29 and 70 vs the leafs and blues moving 25 for 29 and 76. Big difference. Wow dubass is a terrible negotiator.

How about STL and wsh when they moved 26 for 28 and 87

Or when Tampa and the islanders traded 28 for 33 and 72.

Your hatred for Dubas blinds you to reality. Yes there are some teams who have done better by taking advantage of a desperate gm (Dubas actually did it in 2015). Generally though the leafs trades are in line with pick value.

Wow, hatred? I made 1 comment about Dubas and now I'm a hater? Take a pill, man.

Here's a complete list of all late 1st round picks that were traded for other picks at the draft since 2015:

Toronto -4 spots for #76 (2018)
Ottawa -4 spots for #48 (2018)
Chicago -3 spots for #70 (2017)
Washington -2 spots for #87 (2016)
Philadelphia -4 spots for #36 (PHI threw in #79) (2016)

Yeah, that 2018 trade looks pretty bad next to Ottawa's deal and is the worst of the bunch overall.
