DET
  1. Sandin, Rasmus
Détails additionnels:
Pretty equivalent prospects, so lets say this is assuming they are still neck and neck at this point. Seider seems to be a bit more of a defensive guy, Sandin more offensive. Leafs need a RHD, DET needs an LHD.
TOR
  1. Seider, Moritz
Détails additionnels:
If Sandin is much better than Seider, or vice versa, at this point, then the deal doesn't happen.

Imo the biggest difference between Sandin and Seider is the fact that Sandin's year older. Of course his numbers look now better than Seider's does - after all this was his first year in NA, but already second for Sandin.

Their first year performance looked very much alike, and therefore I wouldn't risk it if I were Yzerman. Imo Sandin's good, but not THAT good. You're potetially trading a Werenski for a Jones in a sense.

I don't even think the difference between Werenksi and Jones is that significant, but thats another topic. I think they are very similar, little difference. I don't think Sandin is much better than Seider, or vice versa, and so positionally this may make sense for both sides, unless one of them really pulls ahead in each of their first 1 or 2 of full NHL seasons

Perhaps.

Oh and one more thing I noticed. It's actually the 3rd year for Sandin in NA already. He played in CHL as well for a year.

Positionally I can see what you mean in this one circumstance, which is that DET will draft Drysdale...who shouldn't be their main target. Imo Rossi or Perfetti would be much suitable options.

Also there's the fact of numbers. To put it simply, there just is more defensemen playing from the left side than from the right. Think the ratio between them was something like 130 to 100 that had played 20 games this year. So in general RHDs tend to be more valuable.

idk man I don't think its this complicated. I put the asterisk around how well they each perform at the NHL level in their first full seasons or two. If one pulls away from the other, then obviously this doesn't happen, but my prediction that they will always be pretty close and when they're both in their primes, will be top 5-10 Dmen

Detroit wouldn't have taken him at 6 if they weren't super high on him. Their value is probably closer than I realize but we wouldn't do it.

Yzerman did spend a lot of time scouting in Europe last season.

Can you send this highlight reel over please. I'd genuinely be curious to see it.

I'll send one, and its not that its worse at all imo, but highlight reels don't tell you everything so I generally don't like to evaluate who is better based on a highlight clip that some random guy made up

Right, so what im getting from the video is that his offensive game is comparable, possibly a little better, but his play in the D-zone and Physicality is lower. Given that Drysdale's game looks to have similar strengths and areas for development than Sandin, but Drysdale's Draft year has been better on a worse team I would take Drysdale over Sandin to work in that niche, and then keep Seider as a more defensively responsible option.
We could argue value of Sandin/Seider until the cows come home, but theyre different players stylistically, and Seider's style better matches Detroit's need. I still prefer Seider's value, but there are other reasons Detroit would say no too.

I think they are close. I think it is too early to tell. The trade was made on the condition that they are fairly comparable in terms of value and play after each of their first full NHL seasons. A highlight clip doesn't define a player, he's made big hits and defensive plays that weren't shown. But anyways
