yeah, this happens a lot with teams that are bad for a long time and sell off pieces to contenders or dont sign ufas who go to sign with contenders

The Red Wings were crazy in love with the 1990's Leafs D-Core....Rouse, MaCoun, Murphy, Mironov, Gill (never won the Cup tho) all played for the Wings. I guess it takes one great coach (Scotty) admiring another great coach's work (Burns) to continue to build a successful squad into a championship.

Yes, but reading my ACGM description, I stated ex Leaf players who won the Cup within a couple seasons after leaving.

In Anderson, MaCoun, Kaberle's case; it was after a mid season trade (MaCoun, Mironov, Rouse and Murphy were all on the '98 Wings Cup).
In Bozak, Kessel, Murphy's case; it was the 1st season after leaving (both Kessel and Murphy went back to back Cup wins).
In Parent, Lefebrve, Ramage, Damphousse's case; it was the 2nd season after leaving (Ramage and Damphousse were team mates on the Habs Cup).

Damphousse, trade for Anderson and than traded to the Habs for another soon to be ex Leaf; Corson.
