@Campabee: I agree that they could. While some other people on this site think they are experts, the vast majority of pundits feel that there are NHL teams that really are going to struggle to sign players. I've always been in the corner of thinking that players, during this period, without a rise in the cap (for several seasons) and the uncertainty of COVID, will be more tempted to sign offer sheets. Whether it happens or not is beyond me, but to say that someone would not sign one - regardless of who is making the offer - is rather shortsighted and emotional. If I were Tampa Bay, I would consider a trade to a team
if they cannot get a deal done. MANY people here are thinking this is not going to be difficult for Tampa. But the reasons that their RFAs want to stay are the exact same reasons that Tampa's other players who have already
earned NTC/NMC's would be unwilling to waive them. Teams cannot have it both ways. If I am a player on that team, and I want long-term certainty, I highly consider a reasonable offer-sheet with term. I am not saying that I know everything, and I will never say that. It is just my opinion.
As always, none of us are experts and none of us are paid to be.
