Agree with the main point of your post but Toronto rejects that trade and it's not close. Any trade for Kerfoot starts with Larsson.

That would be sick to see but I’m a bit concerned about the bonuses and complicating next offseason because of it. As amazing as he would be I could see a negative chain of events take place afterwards I’m not such a fan of.

Benning for kerfoot is a very reasonable fair trade.

Not really, Leafs also have a use for Kerfoot, Benning is meh, not top 4 and his QO along with Chaisson actually cost the Leafs cap space and are also now in need of a 3 C

Benning hasn’t been used as a top 4 much outside of brief stints due to injury and he’s always impressed with any task put in front of him. Has all the signs of a legit top 4. Very smart responsible hardly ever notice him because he’s just quietly getting the job done consistently.

Well a consistently injured (concussion problems) with a high QO that has not played full seasons at a top 4 level is of no interest , especially when I now have to aquire another 3C and deal with the useless Chaisson - it's just a no - I'm better off putting Dermott up there with Rielly and keeping my reasonably priced 3C with top 6 LW potential

Toronto needs RHD and I don't really see Benning as much of an upgrade over the D we have right now but I also can't really see Edmonton moving any of their other RHD.
