that pick is very likely to be 15-20 in a deep draft. Zadorov isnt worth more than a 2nd and 3rd hence why i wouldnt do it. Balcers is a decent prospect 36pts in 33 games in the AHL this year and has had great numbers in the AHL every year. I think he should play 3rd line this year

I disagree. It really depends where the pick ends up though (but its lottery protected so it cant be that high). Everyone discounts Graves cause he doesnt have much experience but how about all the other young D with less experience? Marino, Fox, Bear, Makar, Hughes all have less experience than Graves. Hes super valuable

Not downgrade but you have to trade Zads/Graves to fit Byram and do you really want to pay Graves top money for the 3rd pair? Balcers isnt a future, hes ready for a spot now

You'd give a 2nd for Zadorov?

Also you're not getting enough for Tierney and giving up too much for Puljujarvi.

He said he doesn't want to play for any Canadian team unless he gets top 6 minutes.

he'd be colorado's 12th-14th forward. seems like kamenev 2.0. maybe change him for something else.

its only top 3 protected and could be as high as 13 if they lose the play in

Its a clear downgrade

they move out Graves and dont get a NHL D back
they move out Jost and get Balcers (who isnt as good)

Graves isnt going to get top money in a flat cap year. COL would move Zadorov instead of Graves 100%. Graves wont be getting 3rd pair mins, Byram will be sheltered on the 3rd pair if he makes the team while Graves gets top 4 mins for sure

I get the idea with the Graves trade. Adding an experienced LD helps with moving Brannstrom to his preferred side. I just don't think Graves is the right target. I wouldn't move a 1st for him.

hes solid back there and could support Brann to be more offensive

I like the originality of the idea, so i commend you for that.

That said, Avs are in win-now mode, and it would be risky to move a top 4 LHD before Byram has established himself.

The smart move for Sakic is to either use Graves to get an established top 6 forward (eg. Domi); or to simply resign Graves at a low caphit with term, keep him for 1 more season, and then trade him once Byram has officially passed him on the depth chart.

After 1 more season like this one all doubts relating to Graves' inexperience would be gone and he'd have really high value in a trade. It's very unlikely that his value would decrease below what is being offered in this AGM.

Fwiw Not that I'm in favour of trading Graves for picks, but out of interest I made a similar AGM a couple of weeks ago, involving Graves + #27 to Florida for #13 and #45. The value is pretty comparable between that trade and your one here.

which D would u go for then? We really need a LHD or RHD thats a 2 way force and can stay at home Methot style, preferably a veteran one to pair with Brannstrom

Ryan Murray, Travis Sanheim and Marcus Pettersson are three names that come to mind. Cernak could make sense if they wanted Branny on the left side.
