Overall, I think the team looks great! Don’t want to part with Engvall just yet, and Kapanen, 4th should be enough for Manson with retention, which allows you to keep Holl or Engvall.

This love in affair with adding RDs, not necessary.
Keefe's system does not depend on it.

The usual bad trades for the Leafs just to fulfill the mindless RHD obsession.
Larsson and Manson aren't that special to give up all that for their 3 years of term.
That Edmonton trade. the Leafs trade potential three starters for the same cap as Larsson and his one year. Dermot is NHL Dman with years of control and he is traded.shakes head
Not saying Nashville would do that trade, but it is crazy to trade the dependable cost efficient RHD Holl.
21 man roster don't work.

Dermott alone is better than Larsson and we are giving up 2 other assets that will have value to TO when injuries occur. Terrible trade. Manson has been bad for 2 straight years, which makes me wonder if he was ever that good to begin with or just found a niche for a while when Anaheim was still good. This post is terrible

I never understand these, "we traded 3 roster players for one"

Yea, you traded for a better roster player. not all roster players are create equal.

You have what appears to be an excellent d core that allows sandin and lilgerjen to both play with experienced vets and you gave up very little in value, barely impacting your top 9.

Engvall is better than the replacements have to take his place. Korshov might be better than others that are on the the roster. So that's two.
But Larsson....as suggested above may not even be better than Dermot. I'll take Dermot, and NHL Dman his growth and his cap over having one year of the mediocre Larsson.

I'll agree with that not alll roster players are created equal. But you like so many think any RHD in the league should be traded the Leafs at a premium price....just because they shoot right.
It's rather silly that 95% of all RHD trades comes to the Leafs. Aren't those RHD valuable to any other teams?

I guess I disagree that a collection of depth players and AHL players (the Larsson) is a premium.

getting the 2nd back in the Manson trade helps giving up both johnsson and kapanen (ive seen tons of leafs fans trade johnsson for less than what will be a high 2nd)

So you acquired 2 top 4 RHD and the biggest piece you gave up is kapanen. I'd call that a win.

It's 2020. Larsson and Manson just aren't that good now to give up nearly so much. CapFriendly fans seemed obsessed to trade rather expensive, middling Dman to the Leafs just because they shoot right
Holl played 20 minutes a game and was the Leafs best RHD. Manson and Larsson cap. 8.5m. Leafs would 100 better off with Dermot and Holl at 3.5m and then have 5m for a UFA

thats valid. again, we clearly disagree on the value of the pieces you are moving here and are dangerously close to a #freejeremybracco post. oh well.

If you read my posts....IMO Bracco will never be an NHLer. He should not even be mentioned in an NHL trade. But by trading all those wingers on this post, the Leafs are hoping non NHLers are NHLers.
And Johnsson....His playing value is a second rounder. But there are so many team with "Johnssons" who need to get rid of cap. If the Leafs can get rid of Johnsson for a 6th rounder and not take back any cap back, that might be his current trade value.

Preds don't consider this trade - especially with retention. Jarnkrok > Holl and the 3rd doesn't make up that or the retention difference.
