I don't see VAN being able to afford Ristolainen. If they trade Demko it means they're resigning Markstrom, and the combined salary of Markstrom + Ristolainen will be too much for them.

You're forgetting that we aren't forced to trade Brodin. If teams aren't willing to pay what we're asking then we just keep him, no need to force a trade and settle for something like this

Perhaps that becomes a deadline deal then. But you will have to move either Brodin or Dumba or Seattle will scoop one or the other up in the expansion draft and you get nothing.

We don't. Brodin is a UFA during the expansion draft so technically we can just not sign him until after the Ed. Brodin seems to love it here (based on his public comments) so I don't see why he wouldn't be willing to sign after the ED

Assuming he doesn't want to sign, we could get more for him than this at the deadline. I like Mitts as a prospect but he's getting close to bust territory. Brodin should fetch a first and a good prospect at the deadline (don't think we move him for picks though, Guerin was clear he wanted a top 6 C)

I'd take that deal. I'd rather take a chance on those 2 + 2nd than Domi, Strome, or a late 1st+ deal.

I think he's the most NHL ready prospect in the top 10 behind Laf and Stutzle. What more could he prove in the OHL?

It really isn't that unfair of a trade. A former top 10 pick and a pretty sure thing top 4 defenseman, who as a Sabres fan I wouldn't be happy losing, along with a 2nd?

This exactly the point I'm making with this trade. Read up on Samuelsson, he would be the perfect replacement for Brodin in 1-2 years. I thin Mitts could develop in MIN with more talent around him, unlike the Sabres

Agreed. I think I only make that deal if there is a contract extension agreed to. Otherwise that is an easy pass. Would probably push to have Ryan Johnson in the deal instead of Samuelson. I just think that is too much to give up for Brosin. He is a good player but by no means a perennial all-star.

the most NHL ready prospect behind laffy and stutzle is lundell imo...rossi doesn't have to necessarily prove anything else it's just his size and strength that makes me want to keep him in ottawa for one more season

Youre on some crazy drugs if you think sabres should make that trade for Brodin. Do some on MS before tossing him out like that. Not even gunna comment on the other trades cause not a good look

That's fair, but he is very strong and has good weight for his height. The more I watch of him, the more I think he is ready. Also is one of the oldest prospects in the draft, has a very mature 2 way game, and is like 60% on faceoffs. I think sheltering him a bit on the 3rd line and playing him with good talents like Kahun and MoJo would be good. I think the difference in NHL readiness between him and Mitts is smaller than you would think. He's my 5th best prospect and would love for the Sabres to get him or Holtz

I think every single Wild fan overrates what they will actually get for him

Agreed if he agrees to a contract extension he has similar value to Brady Skej which netted a late first round pick. If he is just a rental then his value is less. This offer from the OP is a much better offer than what Skej got for NYR

If you change the pick to this year's second I think it's closer. I have read up on Samuelsson and it doesn't seem like scouts are that crazy about him. Here's Scott Wheeler from The Athletic:
''Samuelsson, like Johnson, is a player I felt the Sabres reached on. I also expected more out of him at the world juniors, too. But as with Johnson, it’s not hard to understand why they did. He’s huge, he’s got a meanness and physicality to his game that is still coveted — even if it’s less valuable than it used to be — and he’s an adequate skater. All of those things help him cover a lot of ice and force opposing forwards to get rid of pucks instead of trying to go through him. But he also seems stilted when he has the puck and his ability to make plays beyond powering shots through traffic isn’t really there. He’s not bad with the puck, at least not enough to say “this kid doesn’t have the skill to make it” but I do believe he’s going to struggle to execute on breakouts and entries once pace of play picks up at the pro level. He may become a fine shutdown player who can kill penalties and give a group of six defencemen a bit of a different element, but I wouldn’t expect him to drive possession and he’ll probably need a partner he can defer to with short passes."

Seems like a bottom pair guy who specializes on the PK at best to me.
