This only saves Tampa $750k in capspace while keeping $2.25m in dead capspace on their roster, while getting the much worse player back.
Needless to say there's no way Tampa does this trade. They're going to be looking to dump his whole caphit without taking salary back. I'm sure other teams will also be able to beat that offer too, such as Colorado or Nashville who would probably be happy to pay a 2nd + 3rd or a much cheaper forward straight up (eg. Jost) without any retention.
Oh and then there's the fact that Tampa wouldn't want to trade a good player to a division rival. Needless to say i can't see that happening unless Boston doesn't send back any salary AND offers significantly more than western teams do.
