Of course you'd day that. Everything that opposes your opinion is false. Pesce is overrated

That is BLATANTLY false. I'm not even saying that because it's my opinion. I'm saying it because right now, it's just a fact, Pesce is so Underrated xD

He was one of the only Canes who had a negative expected goal differential. On a team that plays a system that emphasizes volume shots for and very low shots against, his numbers should be better. Muzzin who plays in a high event style of hockey in TO had better shot share percentage, Possession numbers and expected goals percentage. Pesce would be at best the 3rd best defenceman in TO and I'd wager it wouldn't be long before more skilled guys passed him. Pesce is a good player but he doesn't have the talents top players have. Which is why Slavin and Hamilton destroy Pesce from an advanced stats point of you. Slavin is your best player.

The fact you think Slavin is better than Dougie is exactly why you cannot be taken seriously xD

The fact that you don't understand who the best players on your own team while also thinking all your players are better then all other players is what no one takes you seriously. Even other Cane fans have said this.

No, Jslongo said it. He's.... not exactly a conventional canes fan. Ask people like @AFOX10900 and the conventional fans if you want a proper evaluation smile On that note, enjoy being a joke!

Again, wrong. Systems don't inflate analytics as you think they do. He's actually lightyears better defensively than both D men for Toronto, He's better transitionallly than Muzzin and not that far behind Rielly. He's WAY better than you give him credit for. Analytically, he's probably a top 10 RD in the NHL. If you don't believe me ask @AFOX10900

Systems will impact and influence analytics because schemes directly impact how the game is played. For example, teams that run 1-4 or 1-2-2 traps [New Jersey] are going to have a worse CF% than teams that run 2-1-2 [Columbus/Torts]. Forechecking, neutral zone systems, etc. all have direct impacts on how the plays develop, which directly impacts shots, possession, quality of chances.

Transitional data is cool to check, but there are some flaws with what it is and how it gets interpreted. Sometimes the best possible option is to dump the puck, or pass to the weak side to start the rush. Schemes, player's positions in the neutral zone, how tired players are, etc. are not accounted for in the tracking.

Except that Muzzin is a 2-way monster no matter what stats you look at. If there are credible advanced stats out there that say Pesce absolutely sucks, which there are then no way we should go anywhere near him.

Ya Dougie is probably the best defensemen in the NHL right now, behind maybe Hedman but it doesn't change the fact that Pesce would be our 3rd best defensemen, and Sandin would catch him pretty quick.

Justin Holl is also better defensively then Muzzin so theres that

He certainly doesn't suck. He's a good player he just isn't elite. He's a guy who does great work with a guy who is much better. Like Slavin. By himself he's really nothing special. A lot of people can't see players for what they are outside their situation. Nylander is terrific, no matter what, he's just capable of stuff others aren't capable of. Pesce doesn't have that skill set.

Ottawa got a way better return than CAR does here.
2 1st's, 2 2nd's, 1 high-end prospect, 1 good prospect and 2 roster players

Ottawa got a third line forward (Tierney), a third pairing defensemen (DeMelo), a C+ prospect (Balcers), a B prospect (Norris), then 2 2nd round picks, one being Jamieson Rees who is about a C+ prospect at best, and then they got lucky with the 1st round pick...

This post has Toronto giving up a way better roster player in Kapanen than Tierney, a better prospect in Liljegren who will be better than DeMelo, plus picks for a d-man that's highly overrated on this site?.. It's a brutal deal and it's much more than what Ottawa got because Toronto gives up better NHL guaranteed players.

Carolina is in win now mode. How does moving Pesce for picks/prospects help that? And you knock Canes fans.

What are you talking about? .. Kapanen isn't a prospect, and Liljegren has a very good chance at making the NHL next season. It'd be 2 cheaper roster players to fill needs on their roster. .. This is why Canes fans get knocked. They overrate the hell outta Pesce

His xGA was among the best in the league, do you know how good that is? Using precentiles is always bad on it's own because it doesn't consider things like QoC and QoT. I love how you're bashing analytics when you don't even seem to uunderstand the components.

his xGA was garbage. Yes he has a higher rating in QoC and QoT but if he's this "elite two way d-man" that you say he is, he'd have no problem going against the best in the league and still putting up better stats. Reality is, Pesce is a good 2nd pair d-man, in his career he'll be at most a #3 d-man. But he's by no means "elite" or worth nearly as much as Canes fanes seem to think. His value is extremely inflated on this site because 1. most fans talk out their ass and don't know anything. 2. he's right handed 3. he's on a reasonable contract. ... but if you actually look into everything, he's not worth much more than a 3rd/2nd line player and a mid round pick

The Hurricanes don’t need middle 6 wingers and why downgrade from Pesce to Liljegren ? Speaking of overrating players. Pesce is EXACTLY what the Leafs need. If you can’t see that I’d suggest watching another sport.....hockey isn’t your thing.

This is an EASY no from Carolina. Pesce is one of the best 2 way D in hockey. He's also on a steal of a contract for a LONG time. Carolina also wouldn't have a long term secure RHD without him. It has to be Nylander if you want him

I don't care if they'd trade Nylander, I'm not having any of this

don't need wingers? Kapanen would be their 3rd best winger instantly..

& I never mentioned anything about what Toronto needed. Learn to read before you comment kid.
