Don’t think Kapanen alone gets you Murphy. Maybe Kapanen and a 3rd/2nd, and a prospect like Hollowell or Duszak

I think that is Murphy’s value, but not sure the blackhawks move Murphy unless you sweeten the deal

Then I'd move him for picks and sign DeMelo instead.

Maybe a 3rd but nothing more. Otherwise Kapanen gets undervalued. If the cost is higher then I'm with @Trickster , just sign Demelo instead.

I disagree with the theory that the cap is going to remain at 81.5m. I think it's going to be lower and all salaries even players with current contract get a pay cut.
While the trade Kapanen might be fair value, the Hawks really don't need another winger. Sorry, I getting tired of so many posts where the Leafs trade for RHD and get one like it's a god given right.....it's a crazy obsession on this site. Also please no more Bracco trades.
So the trade suggested for Murphy but the Leafs also trade NHL Dermot....doesn't really help the Leafs that much on defence.
Agree with " onex" above,Leafs would 10 better off signing DeMelo and then trading Johnsson and maybe more for cap space...getting basically future in return. Admittingly easier said than done.

The cap remains ing at 81.5 million is actually from Bettman, he said.

Trading Dermott only happens at the add of defensive guy in Copp and acquiring Roslovic.

Your right about the RD, to be fair I have done a fair amount of LD adds too in other ACGMs.
And i am totally fine with it as long as we improve defensively.

This was me just exploring trades to get some cap out and add to make the team more well rounded.

It's not bad but I think Chi would want a little more value for Murphy and we could probably squeeze a 3rd out of Edm but those two look good. The Winn deal seems like a sideways move for them and I'm not sure Chevy would bite but overall with a little bit of tweaking these seem possible and realistic. All in all a good idea to mess around with!

I like that more! Restock on some picks and sign DeMelo for $ it puts us ahead.
