The 2c Answer is in this years draft

Description
Centers the Rangers can target
Rossi (prob too high)
Perfetti
Lundell
Zary
They have the assets to trade up and acquire any of these players with lundell dropping he might be available to them. Zary is in their range as well. Rossi will likely go 5/6 so a trade with the devils could work but unlikely. I dont see ducks moving their pick without a harsh over payment.

You might be able to convince Chicago to trade down if their target is Askarov or the Devils with their 2nd pick if they think Sanderson wont be grabbed. IMO the top 11 is pretty well locked for whos getting picked, you may have the assets to move up a couple spots but definitely not to 5/6

i mean theres a high chance the devils take drysdale at 6. Also it really depends on how much the ducks are trying to rebuild or retool. Also buffalo at 7 is definitely a target some kind of strome and a first package.

Lundell is your best target, from Finland and plays a 2 way game, great centre for Kakko. He will be NHL ready the quickest too

Drysdale will not fall to 6, Anaheim will not let him go if hes still there at 5.

If Chicago want Askarov I don't think they would risk trading down below NJ at 10 and Minnesota at 11, rather they would simply take him at 9.

ducks could use rossi more than drysdale right now. Both options make sense but for jerseys sake if drysdale is gone there is a possible package that could swing either 6 or 10 away from. Also MTL is prob gona take sanderson

I could see teams passing on Perfetti in the top 10 due to concerns about his size and physicality since he gets pushed around a lot in juniors and at 5'9.75'' 175lbs he's quite small for an NHL center. Rossi is also pretty small but he plays a much tougher and physical game so I don't see the same concerns with him. There's always a team who goes higher than expected on Dmen even in a strong forward draft so I could see Sanderson taken ahead of him.

1. Lafreniere
2. Byfield
3. Stutzle
4. Raymond
5. Drysdale
6. Rossi
7. Holtz
8. Lundell (Montreal would probably go with Sanderson at 8 instead)
9. Askarov (Chicago)
10. Sanderson (NJ)
11. Perfetti (Minnesota)
12. Quinn (this is my ranking but I think Winnipeg would probably target a RHD instead of a forward given their organisational need, eg. Schneider, or trade down a bit)
13. This is where the draft starts to open up imo.

I can't see Minnesota passing on Perfetti at 11 so if NYR want him you'd likely have to trade up with NJ to be before Minnesota. NJ might feel comfortable moving to #13 if they think one of Sanderson/Quinn will still be there.

I could see Lundell falling to 11 as well if Montreal decide to pick Sanderson at 8. But again, whichever of Lundell/Perfetti is there at 11 likely gets taken by Minny.

Minnesota has 1 semi competent center prospect in their entire system, Stalock with term and a really good goalie prospect in Kahkonen already. They are not drafting a goalie if they can get a center. Jersey already has their young starting in Blackwood and desperately needs to improve winger and defensive depth. Neither of these teams are going to take Askarov.

Switch Rossi and Holtz, Jersey aint looking for centers especially ones under 6 feet. Holtz is a sniper and gits their needs much better. Also I think Buffalo is much more likely to take Lundell then Rossi/Perfetti because of 2-way game

montreal has enough centers right now. No shot they take lundell. There first priority is LD then wingers. I could see an easy swap for a second thrown to NJ. Im just not convinced that chicago is going to take askarov though. I dont think drafting him specifically in this draft top 20 is a wise move. Especially when hawks can have perfetti would goes more into their type of playstyle

he could just play wing. If rossi drops to 7 i could see rangers paying a prob overpay for that pick.

That pick will cost you a lot more the Ryan Strome and 13 OA, probably have to add Miller. There is a big dropoff in skill after 11

They should, and likely will.

They need high end forwards just as bad as RD, and one of Stutzle Rossi or Raymond will be there, who are all noticably better than Drysdale

Devils aren't trading down from 6, sorry. They also need high impact wingers, they won't be looking to trade down just because Drysdale is gone Lol.

Lol, thats a massive underpayment. Why would Buffalo want Strome when they can get Rossi/Perfetti/Lundell. Strome has been a 30 point player for 4 years straight until superstar Panarin came along. Last time he was more then a 30 point player he was playing with prime Tavares, Lee, Nelson, Bailey, and Okposo. His numbers are incredibly inflated and he really dont hold much more value then a 2nd

I should have mentioned my first 7-8 picks were how I rank them right now, not necessarily how I think the teams would pick them. I figure the top 7-8 will be fairly set regardless of the order, and my point was to focus on the picks between 8-13 which is the area relevant to this discussion.

That said I agree with you that NJ probably doesn't go for a C at 6. Agree on Buffalo and Montreal too, and also Askarov. As someone above mentioned NJ have Blackwood which i kind forgot about for a moment.

Btw, I think the draft order is going to change quite a bit before the draft, due to the lottery and whatever system the league chooses for the 8 teams that lose in the playoff play-in round. Some of these teams like Chicago, Minnesota, Montreal could lose their top picks if they make the playoffs by winning their play-in round, and that would change the dynamic considerably.
