Kings fans have told me kempe is better as a top 6 wing then he is playing center, so he can play with matthews, second instead of rasmus why not add lizotte who can play 3c. Also remove the 1st and 2nd and probs put a third instead. Finally, if pitrangelo doesn't want to play here leafs got cap room for days and can grab someone else. So overall not bad

So basically (Roy, Lizotte, Kempe, and a 3rd) for --> (Marner)
If pitrangelo doesnt want to come (Tanev, Gudas, Demelo, Braun, etc)

Holl almost= Roy, and is a pretty ideal budget top-4 RHD, We don't need Kempe with our C depth, we don't need an AHLer like Kupari who isn't even a 1LW in the AHL or Liiga, why are we going to overpay for Granlund when we already have Nylander or Kapanen? The Leafs key advantage is their ability to put the puck in the net. We are looking to get a better d-core for sure, but DeMelo or Severson is really all we need. Your trade sucks. A lot. Maybe if the pick didn't have lottery protection but it does.

Keep in mind you'd have to be crazy to trade Marner, or any other elite player for a top 3 pick. Sure you could get Stamkos or Marner or Eichel, but you could also get Yakopv or Galchenyuk or Reinhart (who fights for a roster spot on a bottom-5 KHL team). No team takes that risk. Also, the leafs need to win now and getting someone who will help with that in 3-4 yrs makes no sense!

Toronto isn't Pietrangelo-away from winning the Stanley Cup. The Maple Leafs don't need a defense equal to Boston's or Dallas' or even Arizona's. What they need, given that offense, is a reasonable defense that doesn't get beaten every shift the second or third pair is on the ice. (Not that I'm saying the current defense does.) When Washington won the Cup, they were 12th or 13th in the League in goals against -- right behind Toronto. You guys could probably win the Cup with the Kings' defense.
