Why do we want Puljujarvi? We already have 3 high end right wingers.

I can ask the same thing. Why would the Oilers want the injury prone Johnsson? He might be worth the third rounder but that’s about it.

He's had one injury. Injury prone would assume multiple injuries.

This didn't seem possible (keeping Dermott and signing DeMelo) but you made it happen reasonably. Pretty good I say.

Cause hes better than any left wingers you have other than Draisaitl whose supposed to be a center.

Hopkins is a center unless you shift him and Draisaitl to the left wing in which case you have no 2C.

Yes he's better than Athanasiou. Very similar production (Johnsson actually more PPG this season injured) and Athanasiou is terrible defensively.

RNH has been playing wing for almost 2 years now. AA scored 30 goals last year, Johnsson is no where close to as good as him.

So if Drasaitl and RNH play wing whose your 2C?

We'll see next season if AA is better than Johnsson. I'm thinking last year was an outlier for him.

Johnsson scored just 3 goals at 5v5 this season for a rate of 0.32 G/60. That's ABYSMAL. Now take into account that he played 75% of his time with Matthew's... even a pylon should be able to score 3 with that guy.

Athanasiou had his worst year ever and still scored at roughly twice the rate of Johnsson while playing mostly with Filppula.

And Nugent-Hopkins played LW about half the season, more than Draisaitl did. Your dig at Draisaitl is completely outdated as you can see if you look at the Oilers top faceoff men:

2019-20
Draisaitl 1269
Sheahan 834
McDavid 670
Haas 408
Nugent-Hopkins 404

2018-19
Draisaitl 1340
McDavid 918
Nugent-Hopkins 840
Brodziak 767

2017-18
Draisaitl 1198
McDavid 909
Nugent-Hopkins 767
Strome 671
Letestu 649

2016-17
Nugent-Hopkins 1268
Draisaitl 972
Letestu 896
McDavid 806

The 2nd line is Nugent-Hopkins - Draisaitl - Yamamoto. Has been for a while. Pay attention.

I never made a dig at Draisaitl. All I said is you can't have him and RNH both play left wing... I didn't know wingers took 400+ draws a season...

If all we are looking at is goals then Matthews is the bomb. He's got 13 more goals than McDavid and 4 more than Draisaitl.

The point of the Oilers trade is to shift RNH back to C and have Johnsson at the wing instead.

Dont forget salary matters too, I think AA will get more than 3.4 million AAV because he i1 year away from UFA after end of August.

For the Leafs, I was mainly looking at adding DeMelo and keeping Dermott and I think I did that.
Taking on pool party was to give as an asset without adding salary.

Sacrificed FW depth to improve the D.
More money on the D VS last season.

I'd rather just get more draft picks that way we can draft defensemen.

I wouldn't even mind just keeping our players, letting them gain value by having a healthy season.
