that would be a piss off. We would have gotten Lafrenière.
We should move it
Assuming they move from 8th pick to the 4th pick, getting Jamie Drysdale isn't that bad at all. He doesn't feel the need of the Habs as much as Bowen Byram would (if they won the 3rd OA in 2019), but Drysdale could replace Shea Weber or Jeff Petry in the future. They could also use that 4th pick to draft Marco Rossi

Drysdale is overrated as hell, and we don’t really need Rossi,
That being said u move from 4 back to 8 get Perfetti or holtz or Quinn and pick up a second. That leaves u with 3 back to back picks in round 2 and u can move one of them and the stl pick for a late 1. That’s a HUGE WIN. Walk out with maybe foerster, Quinn/Perfetti/holtz and still 2 decent seconds

Man, this lottery thing will probably wont happen... Pierre LeBrun just said on a podcast that the governor and GM meetings were longer than initially. He heard that the main problem faced in those meetings was
the lottery. Nobody wants to go this way except the top 2 teams... My bet is they do just like S Burnside said yesterday ; a regular lottery involving the 11 last teams

Where do we draw the line. Minnesota has 1 less point than Vancouver. Doing it before the end is dumb. 10 is the only semi logical thing and even that is weird

If they end up doing the 20 teams to playoffs scenario, the 10 best teams form each conference would be allowed. Based on pts% right now, the teams excluded from the top 16 are in order ; CLB, FLO, NYR, WPG, MIN, ARZ.... Since 8 teams form each conference are already in the playoffs, that means CLB and FLO would be in it for the east, and WPG and MIN would be in it for the west. Which means NYR and ARZ are excluded. They'd still get a shot at Laf though. ARZ would be 3 points behind MIN while having more games played (meaning that they werent close to be in the playoffs that much anyway). The only unfair thing would be NYR. They are one point IN FRONT of FLO but have played more games which leads them to a 1,129 ppg compared to a 1,130 ppg for FLO. So yeah, they are close. BUT they could win the lottery so thats that

Plus, thats the best way to do thing since it remains similar to the regular lottery AND it prevents a team to win both the cup and Laf (even though this scenario would be very unlikely)...

The 10 teams would be the worst thing to do since the only one team (11th ranked which I think is MIN) would be excluded of the lottery AND the playoffs...

This would work if u cancel the season and go to playoffs. They don’t want that

They might have to do it though... The worst thing would be to consider the completion of the season and then not being able to complete it while allowing only 20 or 16 teams in the playoffs. Meanings that many teams wouldnt have a shot at the top 3 and the playoffs.

U don’t want teams to miss with 10 games left. Like u said above rangers and Florida. Either cancel everything of Finnish everything
Really, u know Florida is better than the rangers cuz they played less games. There is no way to do this without someone getting screwed.
But no one is getting screw with this.... The teams excluded get a decent shot at the lottery thats it. The proposed scenario is way less fair and many teams are getting screwed (BUF, NJ, MTL and CHI especially).

Ur way nyr get screwed. Miss the playoffs just cuz we are gonna assume that Florida would win that extra game

Yeah but they still get a shot at the top 3 (or
they pick 12)... With your way, the teams I named above wont be in the playoffs and dont get a shot at laf.... Dont come and tell me my way isnt fair. Teams misses the playoffs by one point every year... This year it would be NY

Miss by one real point. This is missing because well assume that Florida wins that game in hand. There is no fair way to do this. Rangers get a shot at top 3 but they want and deserve playoffs.

Man, Pts % is completely fair... The fact that theyve played one game less also means that their prior wins worth more when calculating the pts%. NY simply had
to win a game before

It’s not fair. We have to assume that they win that extra game. We just remove one rangers loss now it’s same games more points

There won't be any perfect solution but the option of reverting to the old format gives an edge to 2 teams while cutting chances for 10 other teams. Where ever the Habs would be picking this year I'd live better with the idea of screwing one team instead of 10, though luck.

Why would anyone assume anything? You go by points divided by games played and that's it. The teams with less games played had as many chances to win OR lose their missing games so no, nobody will be removing a loss here and add a win there to slip someone else in the playoff picture wtf.
