I know it's AGM and it's all about a pie in the sky mentality, but people hopefully understand that in reality based on what we know has transpired thus far, Buff is not playing pro hockey again.
He gave up $14 million to leave a good situation where the staff/city supported him (and before you **** on WPG as a city, Buff is from MIN which is a similar lifestyle to WPG where the fishing is good and the cold doesn't bother him). He's got a family with kids to take care of, $65+ million earned, a Stanley Cup ring and has had a long successful career. He's had surgery on his ankle and he still felt that he couldn't play. So he's now a 35 year old man with a recently reconstructed ankle that still isn't 100%, supporting a 250lb+ body that hasn't played hockey in 12 months as of now (who knows how long until hockey is back) and he's going to sign in Toronto to play under the microscope of the maple leafs media for $700k?
Just stop the madness. He's going to retire. Coming from a Jets fan who harbours zero resentment to the big man despite how it all ended, let's just leave the man alone to enjoy the rest of his life. Please.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
