Cozens + Pietrangelo + a top 10 pick... that's a good return for an overpaid winger.

It's easy to make post signing Pietrangelo when you rid the Leafs of 14.4m in two players. Sure would like to how the Sabres fit that cap into their lineup.

You have no conecpt of what is actually happen behind the scenes. You better wake up and realize that Toronto is a real possible destination for Pietrangelo both in his and the Leafs eyes.

Sure dude,, And how are you going to afford him if the cap goes down as much as they say it could? If the cap possibly goes down to either $50 or $60 million the Leafs, Lightning possibly Vegas are all screwed. Until we know the cap situation there i doubt Pietrangelo is going anywhere.

Every team that is getting hyped about Pietrangelo has to move just as much salary as STL would... I was trying to make a TOR mock and to open up that much cap space without touching the core players, you'd have to trade Kapanen, Johnsson, Dermott/Holl, Kerfoot, and possibly Mikheyev/Engvall for nothing but ELCs and picks just to make the signing. And I don't think Dubas would move one of the core guys to sign a 30-yr old even if it fits their needs.

The Leafs have lots of options to make the signing work regardless what you think.

Agree, Noticed Blues just locked another defenseman on long term contract and sure appears to me that they are getting ready regardless the outcome on Pietrangelo.

They don't they have to move one of the big 4. I think Marner ihas the worst cap to value ratio.

Why Nylander? If we move him we'd still have to move Johnsson, Kerfoot and Dermott.

Nylander is coming at less than 2/3 the price of Marner.

Point is, a more constructive post would have shown the Sabre roster.

What you just do not understand is you just do not trade a player like Marner ever unless you want to destroy a franchise and its fan base.

Toronto will always have a massive fan base. If they trade Marner and then win the cup nobody will care about him. Look at what happened with DeRozan (except DeRozan actually took a discount unlike someone else).

There are some players in hockey you just do not trade and Marner is one of them.
