sure, but I dont give up Abramov to do it. The leafs only got a 5th to retain over 2 mill in the Lehner trade, the Pens got Tobias Lindberg for retaining 2 mill of brassard etc.
They can have a 4th and a prospect like Stotts.

You may not have to give up Dermott. If Chicago wants smith gone then they’ll take less

The Leafs retained 1.1mil. Also they didn't really even do that, because that far into the season, most of Lehner's salary had been paid. It likely cost the Leafs like 500-600K, which practically nothing.

yeah, i forgot to subtract the bit that Vegas took, but even so a 5th rounder is basically nothing and Abramov is a good prospect. You dont get those simply to retain salary and not give up anything. It could be argue that a redemption prospect like Bracco would be enough for a rebuilding team to retain salary when they dont need the cap space at all

Actually, we'll buy him out for $1M. Johnsson coming off a big injury is a big risk. Murphy is worth quite a bit more then Johnsson obviously, so a 2nd round pick balances that. That said, Chicago wants Kap not Johnsson.

To Much. Kapanen hasn't even hit his full potential.

How? Their retaining salary and giving up a second and 4th for a b+ prospect. He is carrying his team and nobody on his team is near his caliber

LMAO exactly the reason you won't get Murphy, because today (taking away future value) Murphy is the more valuable player then Kap. Again, removing future value and only based on what two players have done so far, I hate to tell you a winger that can't hit 50 points in the NHL doesn't have huge value only decent value. Is Kap worth a late first, yes of course. Is murphy worth a late first, yes of course. It's really that simple.

I don't mind giving Kapanen but we aren't taking smiths contract. Kapanen doesn't have enough value as Murphy but he is exactly what we need. Gritty a penalty killer and fast. I wouldn't mind giving him up but leafs would probably ask for to much
That being said I rather build a trade around Liljegren than Kapanen but idk what Chicago thinks about that
Kapanen and Johnsson had a 1 point difference last year! I don't know why every is dead with Kapanen. Andreas Johnsson has struggled yes but he got injured several times.

Whats Abramov and Bracco actually worth at most??
Probably a 2nd and a 4th at the very very most so then what is Detroit getting for retaining salary and giving up two picks including a 2nd round pick??

The answer is nothing, people really overvalue
B-prospects on this site.

Lol retaining salary shouldn't even cost much especially since Detroit has a lot of cap space. You probably don't know Abramov. This would be a good trade.

Yeah teams should just help the Leafs out cause they're the Leafs I get it I get it.
This trade needs work for it to be worth it to Detroit.

Those players had less term then Murphy does, Lehner was a UFA at the TDL, this trade isn't worth it for Detroit, they're retaining 50% of Murphys contract for two full seasons AND giving a 2nd and 4th for two prospects that MIGHT be worth a 2nd and 4th, this trade is good for Toronto and the Hawks, not the Wings.

Good gawd, really a 4th round pick from the 2019 draft who's still in junior is now worth more then a 2nd??!! Sorry but you're delusional, really overvaluing your teams prospects.

well yeah, it doesnt make sense for Detroit either. Doesnt mean it makes sense for the leafs to give up more than is standard for salary retention. Being a year longer nets you another 5th or a 4th or whatever, not a good prospect

I'd rather keep him then have you undervalue him. Ik for a fact Yzerman would consider this. You are just another brainless hockey fan

Sure keep Abramov but there's no way he's worth more then a 2nd, make sure you run this past
Stevie Y next time you're on a conference call with him... 😂
