Yeah, ideally it'd be Samorukov + 2020 2nd rounder; I just remembered that EDM has a condition on their 2020 3rd rounder too, so that might not even be available. In that case, I'd look at a Broberg-Strome swap (which I don't think EDM would be as willing).

The Strome trade might be fair trade value. But the Oilers like so many other team might be not able to take on with cap with sending cap back in trade.
Same with Maatta and dozens of other average NHLers, teams just don't want their cap hit for what they produce on the ice.
That's a big hope...thinking Andersson is NHL good. If he is doubt if the Ranger would give up on him.

As an Oilers fan I agree with your projection for Samorukov, but I think he needs another year in the AHL before he's ready to take on top-4 minutes in the NHL.

And the conditions on that 3rd are based on Neal scoring 21 goals this season, but he scored 19. So I think that pick is available.

I think Dmitri is a nice prospect, but you don't trade away #2C RFA rights for a guy with zero NHL games unless it's a lock of a prospect. On THIS post. Why don't you keep Strome and move Lias to #2LW and Debrincat next to Strome? Make both of those guys happy and that 3rd line is instantly better and you've got $7M in cap space.

I don't think Barret has a real chance of making the NHL team this year. Not because of his talent level, but you've got 2 other real NHL players as scratches. Carpy was outstanding in his role last year. I can't seen him getting a healthy scratch next year when he didn't get 1 last year.

Also, I've seen you sign Pius on a couple posts. Do you have any sources that link him to the Hawks? Other than look at how well we treat our other imports and how much money they made after signing with us?

He's the top Euro FA on the market; there's been multiple interviews with McDonough and Bowman pointing to Europe as a pool they're going to continue looking into. Couple that with the track record of CHI and their success with Kubalik (another Swiss leaguer), they probably have the best odds to land him. TOR is another destination, but they're pretty stacked forward (and cap) wise.

Rangers decline. Sikura and Andersson have been very similar players...so the fact that Andersson plays C and is like 4 years younger makes this a very easy decline.
