I assume you’re another one of those people who is confident the Leafs can win with that blue line?

Yes. This season they've been extremely average defensively and in 2020 they've been a top 10 team defensively. It would be nice to get someone like severson or gudas but it isnt necessary. They have the guys but they just need to work on preventing the cycle and they will be above average. Andersen has been terrible so that's why their defense looks bad. Markstrom is a top 5 goalie so he should make that much better

Hes going to want a NTC. I just put a 4 year term but 5 wouldnt be the end of the world for the leafs. Vancouver wont want to give him a ntc

I can see the leafs going after signing vince Dunn from st.lous..good local boy...I know hes a lefty but I dont see toronto resigning dermot. I think they sign and offer sheet for dunn..knowing st.Louis is gonna try hard for get pietrangelo locked up..cant see them matching leafs offer for dunn too.

if he can play left wing....and is an NHLer....and is better than a 4th liner......and Mikheyev is healthy and as good as he looked for about 20 of the 39 games he played last season.
THEN Johnsson might be gone because of 'the cap'.
But of course that will take at bare minimum until November (assuming the season starts at normal) to know

I dont think he would ask for Ntc. I can honestly see van signing him for 5 year 6 mil per..they will protect him for the seatle draft..and I can honestly see them trading demko sometime either around the deadline next year or at the entry draft..that's my opinion anyways

That right side D is bloody awful. If the Leafs continue to ignore that fact we can all expect the same results.

Talk all you want about fancy stats, preventing cycles and blaming the goaltenders. The bottom line is that garbage ain't cuttin' it.

If you got markstrom, then try and get Murray back for Andersen

This guy is always complaining on threads about how bad the defense is and he comes up with this

He will probably be traded at the draft. I really like johnsson but Barbonov is good enough to be a 3rd liner. If he for some reason isnt good Engvall or Robertson should be fine on the 3rd line. They have tons of 4th line options so that isnt a problem at all

that's a lot of eggs in the what if basket. Even with Johnson the Leafs left wing side is pretty weak and has the potential to be Zach Hyman and the 4th liners. The Leafs wont move Johnsson unless the trade can get something that will make the team better or they are absolutely up against it in a way that they arnt now.

It's not possible for them to keep johnsson unless they are able to get someone on defense for under 1 million. Hyman and mikheyev are good complimentary players in the top 6. As it is we have engvall, Robertson, Barbanov, Petan (who's underrated) and maybe clifford if hes really cheap. I dont mind engvall on the 3rd line but Barbonov and Robertson are also fine options. I really like johnsson. I think hes a 50 point player in the top 6 and a 60 point player on a weaker team. I hate selling low on guys but they are going to have to.

Could be a possibility but wont Dunn command 5-6 million?

I dont think he would either. Was thinking more 4 to 5 mil per for 4 years.. basically a little more than the money they would have had to spend to resign dermot..but get a bit of a better player I think.

And with st.lous trying resign pietrangelo..hes gonna want 9 to 10 mil per season..theres no way they can sign dunn for any more than 4 to 5 mil..I think anyways.

Markstrom is not signing with the Leafs for that term and money. He will end up re-signing with Vancouver.
