savard is not worth a first. kerfoot for him would be fair enough. Both these trades are massive overpayments so no to both

The only thing that comes to mind is, picture Will Ferrell at the dinner table from a scene from Talladega Nights and praying for the Leafs to get better😂😂😂 I guess so though eh, if you ain't 1st, you're last😂😂😂

Columbus takes both offers and runs. These are terrible for Toronto.

Anderson and Savard for Holl and Kerfoot is much more even.

First, Savard is an excellent player. I would guess that you guys live on the East coast and never watch Western conference games. Savard makes smart decisions in his own end and can play some nice passes to get the play moving. He is also big, right handed, hits and has term on his contract. If you don't realise the value of those things, you must not watch much hockey. Savard also excelled taking on extra minutes with Jones out for an extended period of time and he played the shutdown role against the other teams' top lines.

Anderson is worth at least a second rounder as RFA compensation if we signed him to a contract worth more than he made last year (1.8 mil). The gamble here would be on if his shoulder is ok and how his recovery is going. How could you want to save a 2nd rounder when we might get a guy who could be a hits leader and score 20-25 goals a season (as his ceiling)?

Finally, Kerfoot isn't terrible, but he isn't very skilled either. Kerfoot can't score to save his life. He is an 'all day sucker,' but besides exceptional speed, he isn't very talented (average passer, below average shot). The difference between him and Kapanen is huge for me. Johnsson is also good, but I would prefer to put his cap charge towards improving our D. If Mikheyev comes back at a level he was already playing at before his freak injury, I can't see keeping him off the 2nd line. He and Hyman are the mucking wingers to go with AM, MM, JT and WN; with Kapanen ready to jump up, as well.

Haha, Anderson and Savard for Holl and Kerfoot is 'more' even? Oh, I see. You are one of 'those' Leafs fans.

I guess you are thinking about something 'realistic' or 'even' like:
Jones, Werenski, Savard and Anderson for a 7th round pick.

First of all, your estimate of the next season's cap ceiling is wildly optimistic, which should temper most of this construction. That obviates bringing on Anderson right there. That may also price Clifford and Dermott out of the system if Savard is acquired.

Moreover, Toronto can't afford to keep foregoing first-round draft picks. It can be argued that the Maple Leafs can't afford to keep giving up seconds and thirds, too. If the trade were something like Kerfoot and Johnsson for Savard and Anderson, that might work, but I don't see why Columbus would do that.

exactly. If we were to trade our first it would be for a top 4 rd with significant term (Dumba, Ellis, etc). Savard would work on this team but anderson i would pass. He may just be having a bad season but would rather trade kerfoot for savard in a 1 for 1 trade. Then trade johnsson for picks
OldNYIfan a aimé ceci.
